A little thing to add on this: you can hold shield on the ground before jumping and still hold it in the air to execute the peanut pop gun cancel. It’s easier than trying to press both buttons at the same time in the air. Diddy will only buffer air dodge if he is not already holding shield before leaving the ground.

This is how tweek does it almost every time. You can actually dash hold shield and jump before the shield even comes out as well as rar while still holding shield to then get the pop gun cancel. Its great for dash away sh b reverse pop gun cancel movement, tweek does this alot. Another application of this is with banana rar full hop b reverse pop gun cancel to somewhat wave bounce then throw banana and use side b to cover alot of space off stage.

Okay this makes a lot more sense, I’ve been trying to press both buttons together the past 2 training sessions, and I couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working. Thanks!

@@UchiaSasuke111 If you are rolling then your not pressing jump fast enough.. the very important order of presses would be: forward(dash)>turnaround>shield>jump(before shield comes out)...then into the pop gun cancels and b reverses etc. its kinda tricky and honestly just trying to recreate some of the stuff he does on the fly is pretty mechanically challenging, so just shows how great his tech skill is.

it sometimes buffers a airdodge after, idk why, but if you hold shield on ground jump into air keep holding shield then press b it will work

@@not_ryan- but holding shield on ground stops your movement im struggling to see the benefit of doing it with shield over learning it the hard way

Correction: Popgun CAN be jump cancelled on and off the ground by pressing jump and grab with any direction chosen on the analog stick.

@@putitomalo3997 i got it now. You just need to hold b and L/R at the same time. Diddy will cancel the popgun charge instantly. You have to hold shield before you Jump and keep holding the shoulder buttons

Nah, this tech was in smash 4 and was even easier there, pop gun cancel is frame perfect in this game
