@@RealJamesArcher thanks for watching man. I'm a bit tired of this algorithm. It's a bit of an ass. Those that see my cooking videos seem to like them or are entertained... But I realize the ONLY views I get are when I reach out or post. Lol totally indicative of the algorithm not showing. Plus I have an insanely high view to like ratio... Which should Signal to the algorithm that ppl like it. But my channel isn't growing at all. Hahaha... I just said f it and I now do it cause I like it. Oh well
@RealJamesArcher4 жыл бұрын
@@DavidGriffin Yeah, the algorithm is a monster. It's hard. But I do think that there's some magic that happens as you continue to put out videos. The trickle becomes a stream, and starts to grow. And you never know when you'll hit the video that takes off and then brings attention to your other videos. Don't let the algorithm break you! Just keep at it, keep learning, keep doing the best you can, and eventually the algorithm will stop fighting you and start working with you!

I bought that exact card several months back as I've been planning on getting back into content creation. The main reason is I'm hoping it will make it so if I do ever need to use 2 cameras, I have a shot at making them look fairly similar fairly easily. I just searched hoping to find how to use the card in adobe since I'm moving to premiere from vegas pro, and this video was thankfully the first to pop up. Thanks for sharing about this tool!

Even if English is not my native language I could perfectly understood your wonderful video and this make me take the decision to buy this MBR plugin for use in Premiere Pro. For me color grading is a nightmare (my limit) but start a color grading after a right and "perfect" color correction is - in my opinion - the easier and may be best way to start... Thank you again for your video! PD a question, in your opinion if I have to give to a video a special mood, for example a (soft) thriller or (light/soft) horror look, without use a mask for the skin tone (!), would you suggest to: make correct white balance, then color correction with MBR, make some soft color grading (like reduce saturation and make the blacks more deep) and only then, as last point, change the white balance in premiere pro to give a blue-tone (scary tone)? or in your opinion in case of special look (like horror or scary or the opposite like very romantic in a Venetian Gondola, etc) you would not use MBR and work directly changing white balance (in camera or in post) or/and applying for example a Phantom LUT or other kind of LUT without use MBR? considering that with these special look the accuracy of colors is not important? Thanks again and sorry for my English that is not perfect...

I'm looking for a 10 bit panel (8bit +frc) either 24" to 27" is there anything more affordable than the Benq 2700U suited for photography and video editing? I’ve been trying MBR using Sony slog3 as the input and Rec 709 as the output. For whatever reason it just isn’t working - colors are way off. I’ll keep playing with it though - this seems like the kind of tool that should be built into every photo - video editing program.

If you are shooting in Slog3 and want to use the MBR Color Corrector 3 you have to select the "Transfer function color space" option on the menu. In my case I select "Sony Slog3 - Sgamut3.Cine" as input, and "Rec.709" as output. This way I get the basic color correction from slog3 to Rec.709 but also the color correction of SpyderCHECKR

Great video! Glad I found it. Like many I've had that color chart sitting on a shelf for a year. What are your thoughts on the LOG profile option in the program? Have you used it? I'm pretty new to LUTs so I'd like to hear your take. -Also, did you buy the full version or does the trial run out? Thanks again!
@RealJamesArcher4 жыл бұрын
Good questions! I'm still on the trial version, though I'm tempted to buy the full version to be able to download the LUT, which could simplify things since the MBR plugin itself can be a little resource intensive. I usually do shoot in LOG, HLG, or similar, and it does a great job of bringing those flat profiles back to normal.

Hi, I have a question. If I have several vacation videos recorded every few minutes, must I put a colorchecker in front of the camera every time before the next recording? Or just one time and MBR will transfer the settings to the next clip?
@RealJamesArcher3 жыл бұрын
Good question! MBR will typically only affect the clip it's added to. However you can create an adjustment layer above all the clips and add MBR to that. That's what I do for most of my videos.

If I use log, do I apply the LUT first or the color correction first?
@RealJamesArcher3 жыл бұрын
Actually, it's been my experience that this will basically convert the log and do the color correction at the same time. I usually shoot HLG3, and all I do is apply MBR Color Correction (based on the color chart) and then tweak the Lumetri Color to my preferences. I do have a technical LUT for HLG3, but I find just using MBR actual gives me better results.

Maybe my question is wrong in general, but I don't understand why use a color profile and color correct after? What I'm asking is, color grading to a particular extent, let's say as in "Green Book", kills all the correction so why trying to correct before color grading?
@RealJamesArcher4 жыл бұрын
Good question! In some cases, you maybe dealing with footage that has a lot of variation because of how/where/when it was shot. Im these situations, it can make sense to restore it to a common baseline before applying a creative treatment. In other cases, the particular profile or camera you're using might simply.have some uniqueness that's not easily corrected by simple temperature and curve tweaks. I have an action camera, for example, where the flat color profile always looks weird when I try to grade it. Basically, it just gives you a solid starting point to begin grading. now there are definitely cases where you can get away with not doing this. For example, there are some big photography and video KZbinrs who jump straight into grading and are comfortable doing that. It's not quite the same, but they're comfortable with the trade offs of that approach in order to gain back some efficiency.
