I have always believed a horse needs no roughness whatsoever, no matter what, and so many times people make these self defensive rationalizing comments like oh no you need to hit the horse to show who's boss etc. I see this splendid creature and a gentle strong man together in freedom, trust, and beauty, and i want to weep with joy. I see alot of roughness on the track and it hurts me. Jockeys whips hurt me badly too. This is so beautiful my soul stops weeping and starts singing again... horses are such magnificent and soulful creatures and should be fully understood and fathomed...
