Thrustmaster eswap x pro once the elite goes out due to buttons not registering, double pressing, sticks going out entirely, etc. The eswap allows you to swap modules and has far better quality thumbstick modules available (often times able to set deadlines to 0 and they don't wear out as quickly), not to mention mechanical switches for buttons instead of the mushy rubber contact pads that get 1 speck of dirt and stop functioning correctly

Hey bro, I have never left a comment on a KZbin video before, but you have compelled me in a way that I can't resist. I am on my 3rd Elite series 2 controller (owned 2 Elite series 1's as well), and it has developed severe stick drift upwards, on the left joystick. So I just stumbled upon your video, and it gave me the courage to finally pop this controller open and attempt your quick fix. Let me just say... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!. The green caps have a film of carbon on them. The modules work similar to a brushed electric motor from my understanding. So, over time that carbon film gets worn and doesn't make solid contact. By adjusting the caps like this you're making it run on a different section of carbon film that may not be as worn (but will quickly wear due to it being very close to the worn section). It also can cause loss of contact entirely if you position the caps too far away. This isn't a long term solution, probably best used as a short term solution while waiting for your new controller to arrive (thrustmaster, powera, razer, rig, victrix, possibly even scuf but I wouldn't recommend scuf honestly, pretty much anything other than another elite 2 or other OEM controller that will have issues within months).

I tried this off and on with little effect but after spending some time playing with it I seemed to have stopped any drift and it's more precise on small movements. Pulling the sensor cover back and leaving space would sometimes work for a few minutes before issues arise again but it would always get worse, I simply removed the actual sensor piece that sits inside the clip and placed it back in, took some tries to get it in proper place but once I did the drift is very minimal to completely gone and after a full gaming session I can confidently say it's much improved. I'm sure it'll get worse after using it more but it's already been a day of use without the drift after placing the sensor back in vs 5 minutes of play without doing that

I then snapped one side of the green part back in, but it didn't get any better. After an hour nothing worked anymore and I thought I had ruined my controller. Then I used a screwdriver to pry off the green part more and saw that there were small wires there. With a second screwdriver I moved these wires closer towards the stick and snapped the green part back in completely. I still had a slight right drift, but better than the strong left drift. I then recalibrated the stick with the Xbox Accessories app and suddenly it worked. No more drift. ♥️

Does removing the plate void the warranty? I’m about to send mine off since I bought it in October, but previously I owned the series 1 and repaired it myself multiple times since it was out of warranty. Removing the screws on the series 1 voided warranty, so I was curious if it does for series 2 since there are no screws.
@Jxyelan3 жыл бұрын
How do you get to send it off the steps are so unclear
@NelsonDesignAndDev3 жыл бұрын
@@Jxyelan it’s very simple, as long as you have transportation to your local UPS. Log in to your Microsoft account, enter your serial number on the back of your controller, and this will tell you if your device is still covered under the warranty. If so, you’ll select to start a service request, and provide your issue as well as your mailing address. Within 24 hours of completing this, you will receive a return shipping label. You can either print it out, or just ask the UPS people if they can print it out for you. At the UPS location, they will box up your controller for you, and then from there you wait for your replacement. I haven’t sent mine off yet, but I will be in the next few days. I already have the label printed, I just need to go to UPS. The majority of this was explained in the video, and the process is no different. The only bit of info left out was HOW you send it back.. You simply just take your controller to a UPS location, and they will handle it from there. (important: KEEP ALL OF THE REMOVABLE PARTS/CABLES/CASE as they are not required to send you a new box like they did in the video) I hope this helps. Have a wonderful day!

This worked! You're the goat fr fr. Out of warranty, so saved me 100$ sending it back to microsoft to fix. Also, I didn't unscrew the analogs, I just moved it to the left and had enough space to get to the sensors with a pair of tweezers.

THIS WORKS!! I've been plagued by stick drift for nearly 6 months. I've tried everything other than replacing parts/controllers. Finally I can play without having to spend another $150

I'm usually very sceptical to these "easy fix"- videos but I was in for a suprise. Tried this on my 2 year old totally worn down elite. It was so worn down the rubber was hanging lose all over 😂😂 Had mad up&down drift on the left ánd right stick. I pretty much asumed the controller was dead and I'd have to buy a new one. The drift was actually the reason I hadn't gamed in a month. So long story short I followed all the steps precisely and I was baffled by the result. The drift was all gone!! I made me take the time and glue the rubber back on propperly so now I pretty much have a new controller. Thanks for saving $250 brother!! Ps. One more thing tho, before putting everything back together, hold the controller up side down and tap on it for about a minute. (Put a white paper under to be amazed how much dirt falls out)

THANK YOU! It works perfect. Although he added some tiny plastic posts between the sensor, to prevent drift from happening again over time, so it sure works fine. Your video has saved me from buying another one. THANK YOU!

Fixed the Magnetic Tension issue with the metal stick attachment as well. Wow, you deserve a vacation. I was able to fit screw driver in there without unthreading the cover.

Hopefully won't jinx my good luck just now by posting; thank you! Have had upwards drift on right stick on my 2016 Elite Series 1 controller for a few months now. Love the gamepad, I've replaced the grips twice and definitely feel more comfortable playing games like Halo Infinite and MCC even on PC with it rather than bumper jumper. Just played 2 games of Infinite and monitoring the stick through Xbox Accessories PC App no, no drift after this fix. Thank you so much! :)

This works! Fixed my left stick moving forwards was drifting bad. Fiddly to get the green thing in the right place. Was still getting slight drift so put it back together as with the case on the whole thing moves less. Tested and it works fine no drift. Error on circle was 11% down from 41% when i started. I can live with 11% as it doesn’t drift at all. Bluetooth to your phone and go to gamepad tester. As your fixing u can test. As he does in the vid. Thanks!!

I had major drift on my 2 month old Elite Series 2. This solved the problem instantly. I did need to adjust the gap back and forth to find the sweet spot, but once I hit it no drift. Thank you!

THANK YOU YES! After one month in 2017 of my elite controller drifting, I havent been able to use it... FIVE YEARS LATER I find this vid.. its fixed. This is the only solution! *edit after 5 mins it kind of started again so using a very thin piece of paper in between green sensor and clipping it back all the way fixed it!*

duuuuuuude so glad I found your KZbin video let me tell you, it is not easy to pry the face of the controller off. definitely grab some plastic pry tools so you don't damage your controller. getting off the face cover on the joy stick was a lot easier than the face cover of the controller. you need to use a wrench and turn it as center as it sits on the controller itself. def thankful for your video. was just about ready to buy a new elite controller

Thank you! This is by far the simplest method I found on youtube. Fixed drifting issues :)

This trick worked! Xbox S Series original controller had a drift in the left analogue joystick at the Y axis only, it stays up or down and don't get back to center, pushing the resistor pads away just like you did in the video solved the issue with the drift, but only at a certain angle (Not parallel to the joystick cage, but at a slight angle from the top or the bottom), so I had to try several times to get it to center and not drifting again, so the angle of the pad is also important in my opinion. It's not a permanent fix, but it works perfectly fine. I think the pads will wear out anyways and it will have to be replaced at some point.
