But you can't tell you you have never looked down and noticed you've crept above the speed limit without realising, unless of course you have cruise control which not everyone has the luxury of. Or you've never rolled through a stop sign without fully stopping. Even changed lanes without fully flicking on the indicators unintentionally? How would you feel if at that very moment police were in presence and you were booked. Then some smart Alec drove past pointing and laughing triumphantly at your one moment of innocent inattentiveness.

@@zalired8925 Due to inattentiveness, I got a speeding ticket in Chinchilla about five years ago. My first ticket in nearly 30 years. I wasn’t quite quick enough to slow down from 80to60. I was barely over the limit and I just paid the fine. The blokes at work (who all call me grandpa thought it was hilarious). So did I. You would really have to be a PAB if you didn’t just suck it up, use it as a reminder to pay attention and get on with your life. @zalired8925 Жыл бұрын
@@davidcat1455 I can say with honesty except for being an idiot on my P's, 1986, the only ticket I've had was 15 years ago. I was delivering a decent sized trailer sailer for my father and I had asked him what the limit was on 110km/h freeway (Hume Hwy) for that size and he assured me 100km/h. I was pulled over near Wagga Wagga turn off doing 97km/h and thought a trailer light must be out. When I was told I was 17k's over the limit I explained it was my ignorance taking my father's knowledge of the road rules as gospel and I should have checked myself. For that weight the limit was 80k's. Luckily the cop believed me from my stunned reaction and reduced it to the lesser fine of under 15k's. Mainly because I didn't try to argue my way out of it and accepted it was completely my own fault for not knowing or checking myself. And I will admit to one time suddenly realising I had just driven straight through a red light after being distracted and not watching ahead of me. I actually got a shock when I saw the red light as I drove through but thankfully there was no other traffic. The shock I got though was such that I make darn sure it has and will never happen again. And yes, I would have sucked it up and accepted it if I had been caught. I'm always vigilant with my speed but there have been times in unfamiliar areas I haven't seen a speed limit change sign from 80 to 60 until I've seen the second sign 200m down the road. Again my fault, but innocent mistakes do happen and I wouldn't like my mistake to be someone else's humour who has probably done the same or worse but not caught.

While you could argue there ultimately really isn't anything wrong due to the closed gate blocking the way the fact remains that the clear road signage have been ignored and thus rules of that section of road still broken. yeah nah, bollocks. In WA you have to filter between the lines of cars, not between the cars and the edge of the road. You can't just drive up the emergency lane. "Lane filtering is a manoeuvre where a motorcycle rider travels at low speed - no more than 30 km/h - between two lanes of stationary or slow-moving vehicles travelling in the same direction."
@BarneyDesmond2 жыл бұрын
I dunno if it's state specific but I did read something recently about riding on the shoulder. More specifically it's if you're riding slowly (up to 30km/h) on a road with a high signposted speed limit (80 or 100 km/h or something), which would make it unsafe for you to ride on the main lanes. But yeah the intent is clearly for safety due to difference in speed, not for filtering, so I think you'd have a hard time making that argument either way.
@vincenium2 жыл бұрын

@@AnotherDoug "kerb side" filtering is allowed in SA but only for a maximum of 50m and only if you are turning left on any road with a speed limit of 60km/h or less and you have to be a full bike license to do any type of filtering (a lot of car licensed scooter riders have been caught out on that one), dont know about highways or other roads with emergency lanes though but I would never do it on those roads even if it was legal cos its would be the quickest way to get a flat and bikes dont carry a spare
