It's funny how the brain just knows, remembers, recollects data it hears, sees, feels ...I'm watching this video, trying to take my mind of the fact the Doctors told me I have dam Cancer...and right at 10:29, the video just pops out at me, why did my "Spydey" senses talk tingling, what's with this increased level of awareness and then I realize that it's the main, 4 lane road that goes straight through my City, one that I have been driving to work for 25 years...and that is BEFORE any signs pop up to show exactly where the video was recorded at. I have been using dashcams in my cars/motorcycles since those suckers were invented, so watching a video of my local roads through a dashcam is very normal for me, maybe that's why I just knew where that was ....anyway ...took my mind off of my cancer for 4 minutes ...grateful for that at least. Oh, and just for shits and giggles, that video was recorded in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada on the 118, a collector 4 lane divided road that runs through the City of Dartmouth and ends at the Mackay, 4 lane bridge that crosses the Halifax harbour, which then of course, heads into downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. It's funny that an RCMP car did the traffic stop because that is the usual jurisdiction of local Dartmouth (HRM) police, but every Canadian knows that the RCMP have power anywhere and everywhere, they are like Canada's version of Federal Cops ...they have 700 detachments from one end of the country to the other. And of course, many will disagree because of a bad few, but RCMP have always been known as the good cops, the ones you respect when pulled over, they don't have to earn your respect, they already have it, and that is based on their higher level of professionalism, higher and more intense level of training, increased understanding, and general respect to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms that Local Police of Canada just don't seem to have. Think of it this way.... If you are speeding, and you get stopped by an RCMP officer, if ALL your papers are in order, if no other cars were around you at the time, if your car seems to be in perfect working order, if your driving record comes back clean, no speeding in 5 years for example...AND, you answer all questions truthfully and respectfully ...you will NOT be getting a speeding ticket, a warning ...or if it was enough to "piss" the officer off, but all your ducks were in a row, you will get a reduced fine ...he will write you up at a much lower speed than indicated, or even switch it to a seat belt infraction, which means NO points issued against you...but if you pass him speeding, and you are on your PHONE, texting ... May God Have Mercy On Your Soul ....those Officers have seen enough little babies with their bodies torn to pieces from head on crashes that involved texting while driving, you won't have a hope in hell...he will ticket you for not been shaved. . . Fight it in court. PS: I live in Cole Harbour, which is under the umbrella of the Cole Harbour Royal Canadian Mounted Police and in the 26 years of living here ...not ONE ticket have I gotten from the RCMP ...and I own a Suzuki GSXR 750 ...but I'm 65 ...so when the helmet comes off, the Officer says " Jesus Sir, what did you forget at home today ....your brain?" PS: One more thing ...haha ...in the video, just as the truck is changing lanes, the GPS on the car with the dashcam shows him at 90kph and then 89kph, BUT the speed limit is only 80kph on that section of road. That is why it's a toss up wheather you should enable your dashcam GPS or not. You can use your dashcam as evidence in Canada, but there are some strict stipulations that you have to adhere to in order to have it as evidence...you cannot alter it in any way, crop it, change lighting, any changes makes it invalid as evidence. You have to use the ORIGINAL copy of the video from your dashcam, not a recorded copy in any way. If your dashcam stores your dashcam footage in 1, 3, or 5 minutes segments, you have to have the FULL segment unaltered before it can be used as evidence in court....so if you were speeding earlier in that video, the DA could charge you with speeding...so don't think you are the "smarty pants" just because you are the guy driving around with the dashcam in Canada...it can come back to haunt you in certain situations ...I have THREE dashcams in my car, one out the front, one in the back pointed forward to show my actions, like did I use a turn signal .. and one small, hidden one, in case a corrupt cop deletes or steals my SD chip out of my other 2 dashcam to hide his actions.
