It’s absolutely an ‘in the theatre’ movie. I was unsure how I would like it, but I must say, I was blown away. It’s the type of movie that people will miss, then it will (*should) win a ton of awards, and people will have missed the boat to seeing it in theatres. It’s fantastic, and I am going to see it a second time, to try and catch some of what I missed the first time around.

I'm in America & am knashing at the bit to see this. I havent read, heard or seen a single bad review. There are plenty of naysayers who are judging it just by the premise, but they couldn't be more wrong, obviously. Thanks for this!

I often times have found biopics regardless of genre to be so formulaic and uninspired and while this did hit all the beats of a biopic I found it INCREDIBLY REFRESHING. I loved the music and the themes and the story, was absolutely blown away!

I only saw it because it was the Monday Mystery movie; but I actually liked it a lot. I am about Robbie’s age, but never listened to his music or never really knew about him. So the movie was a win for me
@Zakemaster22 күн бұрын
Same thing happened with me. Had no idea what I was walking in to, both in terms of the actual movie and in terms of Robbie’s story, and enjoyed myself immensely. Never would have seen it normally, probably, but very glad I did.

I agree with you. Is usually a tough ask to sympathize with the "Rocketman" self-absorbed rock star take. Better Man manages to make it watchable. Recommended.

I knew his songs, but didn't know or care about the man. I really liked the song Better Man when I was going through a divorce in 2010. So, I went to the movie. My expectations for the movie were low .... then WOW. What a fun movie ... packed and creative.

Better Man was filmed in the area I live, the Macedon Ranges & Sunbury. The director Michael Gracey is Melbourne born

I am big big Take That fan, still today. They are still huge and crushing #1s everytime they release new music, and I saw them (for the millionth time) in Malta for a special event they did there 2 months ago. All this is to say I know *a lot* about them and Robbie, and let me tell you, this movie is so detailed. Of course they had to bend some realities and for example placing something that it really happened in a different setting or whatever. But it was all true down to the tiny details. A silly non spoilery example: when Robbie sees Gary's butler and says now he thinks he's Elton John. Looks just like a silly line. But it's actually true: Gary has admitted many times (in his book for example) that when they became friends with Elton, Gary took him as his inspiration on how to live his new rich life. And he actually hired a butler cause he saw Elton having one. This movie is so detailed, there is no scene or line which is just random.

I didn't like the Greatest Showman either, that's why I was scared to watch this one. But this is one of the best films I have seen in a long time! And it's not just for fans of his or musicals. The songs blend in so well that it doesn't feel forced at all. With most musicals I am also annoyed by the second or third song, but with this one it just didn't. Go and watch it! I still can't get it out of my head, but I really relate to the topic depression too. But I say that in a good way, I felt like I get it and understood. I'll definitely watch it again in cinema, which I normally never do. 😊

I just saw a complete unknown and really enjoyed it. One of my favorite bio pics was the doors. I saw it five times. None of these movies are absolutely perfect but they inspire me to do deep dives on the person or the band and then I go back and watch it again and get so much more out of it. That happened with queen as well. I am not a huge fan of Robbie Williams but I will probably watch this movie just cause it seems so interesting and he’s quite a character.

@TheFlikfreak I know! Both Bohemian Rhapsody and the doors were non-linear, composite amalgamations. In my opinion, the stories were told in such a way that it was much better the second or third time around after having learned more of the details.

Not a fan of biopics because most follow a predictable formula. I love that Weird Al gave his biopic the Weird Al treatment. It's up there with Dewey Cox. Loved Rocketman and this looks good too
