This is the right decision, they had no choice. When you combine the comments that Mayo made, the poor direction and lack of progress of the team, the fact that no good coordinators or free agents were going to come here, change was needed. Hopefully, there will be more changes. Wolf had a horrible draft last year (with the exception of Maye) and his free agent signings weren't any better. This year's class is a poor one so why should the Krafts expect him to do better? He has to go and they need to develop better infrastructure in the front office.

In hindsight we are learning how much Belichick undermined the scouting process. He would just ignore recommendations from the scouts and go with his personal opinion. For example, the scouts recommended AJ Brown in 2019 from Ole Miss. Belichick being a friend of Nick Saban called him to ask about N’Keal Harry from Alabama. Thus Harry was picked over Brown. How many other decisions like that have harmed the Patriots?

To me the timing was due to Mayo and the players screwing us out of the number 1 pick.
