​​@@craighoffman The answer is yes to trade, but this specific trade was bad. Boston got the star and 2 first round picks. It was a robbery. He couldn't go to Boston without this trade (or any other contender), and he wanted to go there.The payoff was lame (so nothing to loose), so they definitely should be tougher, hang up the phone, and betting on Porzingis plans (they probably would win and get much better offer with assets).

Boston got picks because they gave up Smart, who had multiple years left on his contract. That's how that works. I've talked to the front office about it and their explanation made a lot of sense.

@@craighoffman If they wanted Smart for draft picks they didn't need the Wizards. They could make 2 different trades. They wanted Porzingis and they are willing to pay Smart for this. Smart is a part of the payment for Porzingis, therefore it's a bad trade for the Wizards (as i said Porzingis wanted a trade, and didn't want to sign as free agent in a weak team, so Wizards have this leverage).

@@craighoffman That's not basketball theory, that bad business. Let's say you have a diamond that worth million dollars. You might loose him for free, but you have a preaty good chance you won't. You have a buyer that lets say offer 1000. Do you sell it for 1000, probably not. Do you sell it for 100,000, maybe that's depends what are your odds and your personality. It's similar to the logic in "deal or no deal" show. I mean the price for Porzingis was too low, like 1000 dollars and you have a preaty good chance to get much more, so even if there is a preaty good chance to loose all too, any normal people bet on this chances. I hope that's now i explained well their mistake in this trade ( English isn't my native language)
