It was a fresh take how you mentioned how ppl are scared/not scared bc of cultural differences. Real true though! Like, no one in korea would be scared if they ever saw a gun in their country bc not even the police carry guns; no one does (except for when you do military training in the army). P.S. real easy way to convert korean money to us is to just get rid of 3 zeros. So if he owes 160mil won to loan sharks, thats about $160,000 dollars.

12:08 Unlike the United States, South Korea bans the possession of firearms to its citizens. So, generally, gun-shaped toys, lighters, and BB guns for survival are mostly on the market. So there's no need to check the mags because you know for sure it's a fake gun. For reference, there have been fewer than 10 gun-related accidents or incidents in the decades since the founding of South Korea.

@rhondahoward80253 жыл бұрын
Gi-hun also had a realistic reaction in that he completely froze up for a long time after seeing the first wave of slaughter for moving. So it was either people fleeing in a panic or being too petrified of moving at all, even though you will also be eliminated if you don't cross the finish line in 5 minutes.

the human instinct or instinct of life in general is to remain alive. its interesting seeing that element being shown in form of a game like so, but in a sense, we are all doing what we need to survive on a daily basis, a car explodes, you RUN, your hungry? eat. that urge to do shit to survive is interesting as fuck because its a universal trait among all forms of life on god

This show is pure fire. Gonna be a heck of a ride with this one :) I fully agree with your take on culture about the panic during the Red Light Green Light game and people's sense of caution because Korea is a country with low crime rates, as far as I am aware. I think I saw a video where they tested robbery by leaving a laptop out in the open in a cafe, and nobody snatched it after hours had passed. I am not sure if that could be replicated in some other countries. Also, guns are illegal in Korea so nobody is scared of guns in Korea because they assume it is not a real weapon....until the bullets start flying.

Super sharp point you guys made there about the meaning of "elimination" in different cultures! Totally spot on
@adjjal2 жыл бұрын
Apparently the translation for 'eliminated' was not a direct translation, but the closest they could find , but apparently the Korean version is far less sinister sounding, and is more like 'out' then 'eliminated' , but apparently maybe less sinister sounding than 'out' also - although I guess it probs still has to double meaning potential there - but it apparently just sounds way less sus in Korean. I think you made a fantastic point about culture. I used to live in Korea and I can't ever imagine seeing 'eliminated' as meaning they would kill me. I'd just assume I can't play the game anymore. They conditioned these people with the slap game to think 'its ok to lose I just won't get the money'. There are plenty of gameshows/reality shows we have like survivor where you have to win the games to win the money. No one thinks the contestants on Survivor are going to be killed. And to guy on left's point, the fact that the staff isn't showing their faces might be a comfort. Kinda like when a person gets robbed they know the mugger might harm them if you've seen their face and can identify them later.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to take away/give up someone’s physical rights (unless in really specific circumstances like jail or their unable to make decisions for themselves) regardless of a contract. They probably just wanted to use the contract to set a solid rule inside the facility and during the game.It's one way of imposing their power in the situation and exude some sort of intimidation to the players..If the players are gonna resist or question how they run the game, then they can simply say, "well, you signed the contract,remember,so dont come complaining b*tches" ( then *bang* *bang*).
