Theres something to be said about simplicity. I have a few extras that ive bought over the years, but once i found my goldilocks EDC i stopped switching things up. Now Ive got 1 edc bag, 1 car bag, one edc knife, 1 edc light, 1 edc pen, 2 multitools, and thats it. I always know what i have now.

I used to be on the road a lot. I was wracking up serious miles and got into situations where I was seriously under prepared for certain situations. I didn’t have a pocket knife, a victorinox Sak and a keychain flashlight before but now I have those things on the daily and they have been helpful. I now keep a tire inflator and jump starter in my car. i keep a back up flashlight and a multi tool in my bag and car because i dont always bring my bag with me. i have three knives that i rotate between and thats enough for me. I got a few pens that cost me no more than $30 and a few nice cheap ones. Got a few notebooks that i use for lists or tasks i need to do. Rarely do i take notes. On rare occasions I’ll write my thoughts down. I think I’ve pretty much reached end game for edc for me. If I need something I’ll know when that situation comes up. For now I think I’ll just enjoy my hobbies and live life. Smoke some cigars. Make money. Etc.

I have my primary carry, which is a SAK of some sort, a diy hank, a Leatherman Rebar, and a single torch butane Zippo. In my wax canvas Viperade VE1 i always keep in my pocket, i have a rite in the rain notebook, 1.3mm mechanical pencil, Olight i5R, the Stanley 4 in 1 screwdriver, a backup knife of some sort, 58mm SAK, a boo boo kit, some duct tape, shrink wrap and zip ties. In my everyday life, i find myself needing to fix a bunch of different stuff, and help others with what they might need. Especially being a musician, never know when you need to tighten up a strap button, fix a loose input jack, tidy your nails, etc.

So far, my EDC fits in the four pockets of my jeans (pants). I have mine down to a list of implements that could or do help me get through the day. I carry a clean and a dirty use folding knives…a Case Mini Trapper (old school) and a US made Buck knife bought at Cabellas for $19 ten years ago. I don’t smoke but I carry a Tisfa butane lighter. I carry an Olight SR1 that I can’t tell you how many times I was glad I had it in my pocket! I have a small Field Notes pad with an EDC pen my wife bought for me. I carry fingernail clippers and SS teeth picks in a sterile air tight cylinder. I’m old school with my wallet and I use an old school key ring. There’s always a handkerchief in my back pocket. I’m not looking for the most pricey stuff nor do I look for the cheapest. Everything is pretty consistent, none of this changes much. There’s about 8 feet of paracord on my wrist along with my choice of 4 different watches I like. And of course I carry an Apple 12. And lastly…I “carry”. I do feel “together” when I’m out and about. I appreciate your channel! From Gallia County Ohio…PEACE!

My EDC world started in the wake of Katrina. I personally saw a ton of folks with immediate problems and no immediate solutions. And it just got me thinking when stuff hits the fan, what am I prepared for? And I don't mean being a doomsday prepper. But can I provide any usefulness to myself and those around me? I did a long stint in the Navy, and when I wasn't out on deployment or at sea, became a Red Cross shelter manager and community disaster educator. I'd go to events and have water filters, medical gear, tools, food, etc. to showcase what people should have at their house. They almost never cared and just wanted a shirt or koozie. I'm very outdoorsy. Hiking, backpacking, camping, kayaking... And a lot of that led to minimal and ultralight, multifunctional gear. And that's where I sit today. I do have a lot of things in my pockets, my office bag, my house, my car that can get me through a lot of bad scenarios. But I always make sure it is no more than I reasonably will actually use. I don't need whatever a Leatherman Arc can do. My Sog Powerpint that I modded does just fine for everything I need from it. I have one Benchmade and a Civivi Qubit, and they have never failed me. Final thought: what good is all the gear in the world if you haven't seriously assessed your knowledge and skills to understand the solution to what life throws at you? Education and knowledge is the one thing I hear almost no EDC influencer discuss. Its your most valuable thing you can carry. Period.

I "EDC" for fixing stuff around the house, yard, and moments in public I need to fix things, or clean stuff up. AND I EDC for rare emergency moments that I hope do not happen but I have an upper hand IF they do happen. 😁 People wonder what I mean by fixing stuff in public? I rode my bike last year along a bridge near to where it crossed a highway and the sidewalk was blocked by like 30 limbs of tree branches still attached to a big tree that fell, so I whipped out my multitool and used the saw to cut the thicker branches off, then the wire cutters on the pliers to clip off the thinner branches, and moved it all into the woods nearby. That, alone, should tell you that random crap happens, be ready for those moments. It feels good to have such convenience right in my pockets.☺️ I walked around my backyard and cleaned up some weeds growing tall right near the woods with my multitool. I tighten up loose screws around the house with my multitool. A pitbull got loose from neighbors house and charged me while on my bike at a stop sign. I had pepper spray and a knife ready if he latched onto my arm. I had to pepper spray someone who wanted to fight me, they ran like the wind. Over 20 years ago, my friends were hanging out, walking down the street at night and a big group of guys wanted to start a fight. My friend doused em with pepper spray (we were bail enforcement agents back then). Cops came soon after, we showed em ID and were let go. I can bring up more but that's just a few random situations you can find yourself in WHEN ITS NOT EXPECTED. So do not become complacent and let your guard down, people. Most victims are thee ones who never prepared for bad situations because they never happened before... until it did happen, and then it was too late. They learned their lesson the hard way.

Really like your chill videos. EDC is a strange term for me but only way I can search other people carrying stuff. It's just shit I carry that I use every day or in a twice a month scenario. New thing I added was a gauze pack (bleed stop) I cut the shit out of myself and I didn't have a great way to stop the bleeding. Whatever it is, it always happens when I'm NOT carrying the item(s) to deal with it. So i thought I don't want a mess of bloody paper towels next time, just going to carry 1 wound iodine pad, 1 bleed stop, and some form of compression dressing at all times. If I have it I wont cut myself. the second that shit ages out though, cut city.

Hello Marine X. I just subscribed to your channel recently. I am a veteran like yourself and I think you and I see eye to eye on many things when it comes to EDC. I believe there are several types or degrees of EDC/Survival/Preparedness based on your environment. For example a person from Florida will probably have a slightly different edc setup as a person from Montana etc etc. For me EDC is pretty much a religion . I am always looking forward and thinking of ways that I can improve my EDC. Anyway, I just want to say that I appreciate what you do on this channel. Keep it up.

I’d like my edc to help optimize my ability to problem solve and address whatever life throws my way. From simple tasks all the way to worst case scenarios and even being able to help those around me if I’m able too. But without being weighed down so much by too much gear. At the moment carrying a multitool, primary blade, and flashlight is my current goal.

I love my leatherman wave. As far as knives on my person EVERY DAY, it is the wave and the Milwaukee fastback. Sometimes i wear my Mora Garberg on my belt. I will not spend 150 $ or more for a 5 inch + knife, there are too many good knives for 100$ or less. In saying that, if my income where to rise significantly i may buy like a William Collins knife or another good knife maker that is not a high production business. But for now, a good solid well known , time tested folder, fixed blade that have wood , solid rubberised or micarda scales with a decent blade steel is just fine for this old fart. My step dad gave me a old buck knife with a leather sheath that i had for years. I gave it to my foster brother when i went into the Navy. He lost it. That knife served me well. I think it was the 110?? Anyway, its great to have more than one folder or fixed blade to put in different packs, vehicles ect. But ive seen many ppl on KZbin who buy all this edc gear but you can tell they dont use the gear. So for those who cant buy the knives, flashlights and other edc gear, get what you can afford and ACTUALLY take your gear out and use it, get comfortable with it. If you buy 550 paracord or bankline, practice your knots and use the gear. Thats all i can say, cause thats all i know. Thanks for letting this old submariner ( bubblehead) say this.

If you're genuinely curious, I have two reasons. First is to have consistency, so I can prevent misplacing or forgetting things. I've already accomplished this and I never feel like I'm missing something. Second is to have as few things as possible accomplish as many of my goals as possible. This is practical goals like a pen, keys, wallet, and also goals that I just have like cordage... I thought I was done but my E&E portion doesn't feel right. I want to add to it, and also fit it on my person better. Right now I carry 8 items + an E&E KIT

For me I tend to be thinking about stuff from the buy it for life idea. I am in my twenties and doing okay, but would like to figure out what can I spend a bit more now for convenience or usage for the rest of my life. It’s why while I have gotten a flashlight and charger, I haven’t gotten a pen or analog watch. Living in Canada I would want the pen and watch to work in the cold and in high humidity as well as high heat with minimal discomfort.

For me, it feels like the trend has slipped from EDC being items most likely to be used regularly. To EDC being all the nifty random items that could possibly be used at some point, under specific situations. I've had a variety of items rolling around my car for years. I decided to get a pouch to organize them better for when I need them. Then it evolved into "I have extra space in this pouch", so I started adding things that are handy if needed. There's so much hype over so many things that it's hard not to get caught up in it and buy more than is needed.

my endgame is preparedness, function and simplicity and if it looks sexy and fits my vibe that's a bonus. Growing up with ex military and medics in the family - since school i was the kid with a pocket knife, bandages and an all around weird fixer upper + med kit in my bag. Love brick and mortar stores but since recently moving my family to eastern europe (co's f@#k Trudeau) options are rather limited and that makes the function and simplicity hard to judge. I can buy stuff online that it's cheap-er-ish... but as for more expensive gear it's really hard to settle based on reviews, - especially since most reviews are done by dudes and being a girl it's hard to tell how something's really gonna fit and feel. p.s. great channel! Chill, sane, practical, no bs. Just came across you today and you've just earned a new sub ;)

In my opinion, when you start talking about the label EDC vs. things that you just happen to carry everyday, the difference is intention. Most people carry things with them every day out of necessity or habit. It’s autopilot. When people talk about being into “EDC” it means they’re slowing down to put thought and intention behind the items they carry.

EDC is the Answer to Bilibo Baggins riddle: "What's in my pocket?" My Precious. The purpose of having multiple items is that they can be located in multiple places, giving you a greater opportunity to use them. That said buy more Dental floss, put them everywhere and floss your teeth when you find some down time. When you are trying to build good habits, give yourself every opportunity to succeed. More and more we are inundated with ideas that are not our own, because modern technology has made us more accessible than any time in the past. Before you buy some idea, ask yourself where did that idea originate. This is called Idea Tracing. Some times that source of bad ideas comes from your well meaning friend, you know the one that always has bad ideas and if you don't know who I'm talking about look in the mirror you might be that guy. Don't be that guy. Ideas that you think you think, do not belong to you. Every thought you have ever had originates from your environment, the question you never asked about the thoughts you think: Is that idea something I accept as my own or am I rejecting it because that is not who I am? This is what free will looks like and you must practice it or you will subjected to which ever way the wind blows. The last piece of advise is to surround yourself with people that have good ideas to increase the chance that good ideas come your way. Contra-wise culling friends that have bad ideas might be necessary when their bad ideas become your problem.
