BONUS CONTENT: The stock rims are slightly less efficient, but in the summer I think it's worth it for this look. Efficiency is most effected in the winter when a lot of energy is spent keeping the battery warm. Thinking about painting the calipers now 🤔

Alex Sibila once I took mine off I didn’t want to put them back on. The hubcaps are easier to keep clean because there is no reaching in the rims.

The rims without the aero caps look way better. The Aero caps is the only thing I really don't like about Teslas. Cheers.

Looks much, much better without the Aero covers, but it should be noted that if you're looking for max range on long highway trips, those covers make a Big difference. But yeah, I'll probably take mine off upon delivery as I do mostly city/suburban driving.

That's exactly what I do. Usually leave them on in the winter and for road trips but take them off in the summer

Alex Sibila get duct tape and make a ball out of it with the tape facing outward and stick it on to the cap the pull quick!

Remove wheel and push it. No potential scratches.

Drill a small hole into the cap before installing. Then when time to remove, use a tiny Allen wrench that fits in the hole and pull. This is how Porsche center caps are removed. They come from the factory with the small hole already in the cap. One more thing, the bottom of the “T” should point to the valve stem… another Porsche thing.

When you install the aero covers again, you obviously need to remove the “T” part (with a suction cup or similar), but for the bolt plastic covers, what do you do? You also remove them or are compatible with the aero covers?

Yes, I remove everything. If you check out my "Custom Aero Wheels" video I show that whole process. It's quite the struggle getting the center caps off lol

Correct, the aero wheels are essentially plastic covers. They don't directly screw into the wheels. Same with the bolt covers and center cap, just held in place with friction

They can, dirt/sand can get in between the cover and the rim and cause some scratching. I haven't noticed it a ton on mine, but it does happen.

But honestly so little efficiency lost in stop/start town driving only really motorways would you see a drop off tbf. No diff to any Ice car if you think about it. Aeros on them would improve mpg /range slightly in reverse. Each to their own of course.

Honestly, wished Tesla had higher quality rims on the model 3 base tires, the alloys have a cheapening, ugly look especially with just a little dirt or dust. Then the aero caps look like cheap plastic covers you could get off a prius. Car is a 50k plus purchase and unless you get the sports wheels, the base look like something you get on a 20k Corolla...
