Getting snagged on bottom is part of bottom bouncing. You just gotta figure out the right weight to get the consistent tick over the drag and tick. Once you get that down the fishing will get a lot easier

I used to fish there all of the time back in the day. I havent been there in 13 years or so. I always used a pin while fishing from shore right where you were. Large slipfloat, tones of lead, and good 2 go. A good friend of mine passed away there in 2016. Maybe you met him, he'd always be parked there in his trailer. His name was John Canzona. cheers brother

I’ve always wanted to try that. I was also thinking of using my side planer with my spiral wrap baitcaster setup and target the browns that are tucked close to the shoreline. I’ll have to do it one of these days. As for your buddy, I’ll probably have to see a pic of him. The locals down there probably do

I have a desire to hit the hard water this season. I've never been ice fishing before. May try to get up to Simcoe if the pandemic allows it. I'd have to take a bus up there, so I'm not exactly sure if it will be doable this year.
@PUMPKNOWSFISHING

Yea, not sure if we’ll be getting any safe ice this year. I’d recommend going with a outfitter that can provide a hut, rod and minnows

@@PUMPKNOWSFISHING It maybe warm now, but it is supposed to be getting pretty cold due to the polar vortex. I've already looked at some operators due to being pretty restricted in where I can go as I don't drive. I may splash out and just buy a ice fishing rod. I have a ultra light reel that should be ok to match it with.

Play around with the different size sinkers so you feel the constant ticks off the the bottom. You don’t want your rig to drag bottom
@bkjeong4302
@bkjeong4302 3 жыл бұрын
@@PUMPKNOWSFISHING What does a tick feel like anyways? I think I don't know when the sinker is in contact with the bottom when bottom-bouncing.
@PUMPKNOWSFISHING
@PUMPKNOWSFISHING 3 жыл бұрын
@@bkjeong4302 start with the heaviest weight you have so you make contact with the bottom. You don’t want the weight to be dragging on the bottom so you start to gradually change your weight lighter to find which weight has a constant tapping feeling with the bottom

@@PUMPKNOWSFISHING I know what you mean. I was with a famous fishing guide in sault ste marie John Gugliani fishing for Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout in 2019 bottom bouncing for them, we hooked up a lot. We were running slinky weights with the 3 way swivel as he said they don't get caught in the rocks as easy. As apposed to the pencil weights. But before that trip I had no idea how enjoyable it can be feeling the bottom until a fish smashes it.
