This was very helpful.....the one that made me pause for concern was about the breeding in order to get milk. I use goat milk soaked cracked corn to finish off my meat chickens but it is getting harder to find at a good price for the amount that I need; that is why I am thinking of getting two goats.

@@trevabailey416 Have not done it yet.....I found a dairy farmer willing to sell me excess milk for the time being.

Geoff Lawton had a great video on using goats to pasture in brush and wooded areas to make smaller trees and limbs ready to be cut for rocket stove fuel, so as long as you have an area that you want either controlled or browsed, goats can be alike brush hogs that give you milk and meat^^.

So sheep are actually a better choice (lower maintenance) for a small hobby farm that wants primarily milk and secondarily fiber?

Goats are fantastic if you are over run with brush and invasive weeds. Like everything education with a good dose common sense.

Great video! I jad read that Japanese knowledge helps milk production, we have it unfortunately and even into property next to us. Any info or tips on that plant by chance?

I love to walk my herd of Kiko and Lamancha goats to a nearby forest every day. I have to use treats to keep them with me. My question is, are nuts and dried fruit ok for I little treat?

I have 13 chickens and I live on 2 acres in upstate NY, I've had them for a few years now. Starting to look at the possibility of having a goat or two, they'd be just pets pretty much. Just love having the animals around. Is there anything that is a concern? Like for instance when I was naive and though you could have multiple roosters, I was told they were hens but I found out quickly when they started fighting each other lol.

My concern is that 1 I am a kid which means I can't spend much time with the goats and 2 I live in Beeville Texas which means I dont have much space for the goats

It’s 3 o clock in the morning, I already have cats, and dogs, I just took my newest puppy out for a walk, and I realize now that I need boa constrictors, an African bullfrog, a large tropical fish tank , a beehive, and two of these things. And an Argentinian Tegu just to be safe.

My buck is a sweet and nice and when he's not he stays out of your way. Not sure what you mean by the downside of having a book?? Maybe I just got lucky....

I have a Nigerian dwarf doe. she is wet under her tail. she hasbeen wormed goatinerals baking soda free choice. her stool been sent to vet. negative. a handful of grain mixed grass hay. why is her stool so runny? fresh water also.

Hi. Why not try chamomile to give to your goat. Chamomile normally settles a problem stomach...
