For me, archery is a great form of meditation. It's so relaxing! A while ago, stress started to bog me down... work, responsibilities, relationships going wrong... troubling my mind 24/7 ... paralyzing me and preventing me from getting anything done. My first reaction was escapism, trying to distract myself with video games and youtube... but it obviously didn't help. Then I decided to pick up archery as a better way, and I'm feeling much better now. It lets my mind get some good rest, no longer focusing on what was, what could have been and what will happen. When shooting, I only need to think about right now, and it's so much easier on the brain :)

Thank you so much! I can say right now that ever since I started watching you videos I've gone from not being able to hit a barn door at five yards to being able to kill apples at 10. I've really started to take all the things you say to heart and think about them when I got to shoot. Thank you so much.

I like your thoughts on clearing the mind and focus. I find it easy to clear my mind, as my wife might tell you, since there isn’t that much going on in there most of the time. I’m not sure but I think she is taking a jab at me. Just let the mind tell us what to do and follow through. Thanks for the great videos as they are full of great information.

The fun part is the most important to me, having new shots in differing locations with their own individual challenges I'm an archer not a competitor. But still a good question, before any shooting I warm up with a little back stretching and tensing, but that's about it.

You make some really good points there Wolfie. You're spot on too, if I start over analysing stuff the shots aren't as good as if I just shoot. Some times with an empty brain a shot will really surprise me so much so that the next shot when I "try" to emulate it goes nowhere near where I want it! Much food for thought here. I must now leave you and enter my state of Zen :-p

Weirdly. I don't see it as a competition :/ I tend to just go out as if I am just going to a new course and shooting with like minded people. I don't have any interest in being 'Top of my game' as some do. Yes its nice to come back with a good score or even a medal but it doesn't really mean anything without a great days shooting.

While I agree if the shoot see session isn't going well its best to stop for the .I have also pushed past the bad shooting and recovered My accuracy in the same session and that teaches one to overcome .
