This technique is ideal for longbows, not easy, but with practice it is very good. Saludos!

Hey Gazza. Love your work BTW. I really enjoy your references to HH in your vids. I think he has real clout and is still relevant today, a true testament to his achievements, what a legend.

That man has some looong fingers. I use my index finger at the corner of my mouth,m and my thumb is IN FRONT of my ear, not under it. I would need another 2". I have always shot this way. I am 57 years old now, and never saw this video until about 2 years ago. Now I do my release different and it works for me. My release hand comes straight back. He mentioned proper follow through, but there was nothing following through. My had follows through. I do not hold at anchor. I hit my anchor and release and keep my hand moving back. I have a much more consistent release this way, but I also shoot instinctively. I never aim. I know this was Howards way and a lot of it is spot on for me, and some of it is not for me. Everyone needs to use this as a BASE to start from and build their own RELEASE.

Static release no BS double anchor. right on

He does have a double anchor though, the thumb is below the ear and behind the jawbone. He even says it explicitly. 6:05

Everybody and their compound wonder bows. No one got near me at the range until these Jennifer Lawrence, Hunger Games movies. These 10-14 YO kids would watch me with my old (1969) fifty pound Hill longbow. Just as well because Jennifer appears to be lacking in form and technique.

Not if you'd have met him personally...I spent a day with John about a year before he passed...Truly a fine gentleman...and he made a heckuva batch of cowboy coffee! I'll remember that day until I go to the happy hunting grounds myself...
