Thanks for the sewing tips & the maintenance and oiling tips. I understand my Bernina so much better now. I inherited my 810b three years ago (it belonged to my grandmother-in-law as well as my mother-in-law) & with good maintenance it will keep going for me for many more years to come.

I got mine as a high school graduation gift in 1977. Still going strong. It's like the Kitchen Aids and original Cuisinart machines a lot of metal and nylon components - not plastic. They can weigh more than their plastic sisters, but they last forever! Thanks for the video - I've never opened my machine up, but I'll give it a try. Also - I love your feline supervisor!

Thanks for this (and thanks Molly, you're the real star)! I just bought a refurbished Bernina 802S and am coming back to sewing after a long hiatus away. I was able to download the manual from the Bernina website (tip: it's in two parts in a zip file), but it's an old photocopy and some of the details weren't clear. I also couldn't figure out how to move the top lever until I watched your vid!

Thank you! Very helpful for my newly acquired 801 matic ( not Sport ) which has one more stitch ( scalloped satin ) and a button to make the top pop off, and a dial for 5 step button holes - but otherwise identical I think. I agree these are great machines if you can find one for sale.

Hi Do you know if it is possible to reduce the pressure on the presser foot?
@wayneessar7489 Жыл бұрын
When the top is removed it exposes the wide screw head you need to turn to adjust that pressure. A high quality screw driver with a good end is best, Wera brand or some other ones.

This is such a great tutorial for those of us lucky enough to have a Bernina 800 series. Mine is an 801, bought it for 70euro a year ago, absolutely covered in dirt and dust. After a clean up and a service, it didn’t need much - it runs like a dream. I’ve since collected lots of feet for it- most recently the walking foot and the ruffler foot. Such a pleasure to sew with this machine.

Just purchased an 807 and am loving it. Trying to remember all my 'old school' home-ec training. This video is awesome, thank you. Would like to know more about the tension adjustments. The 807 has a +/- wheel at the top that I assume is for tension adjustment. Anyway, thanks again - great job.

Thank you IN stitches! I have sidelined my little 810 for several years in favor of my 401A. Now - I will reunite with my 810, thanks to your thorough explanation of it's versatility and strength. You are a super teacher; explanatory and comprehensive in your coverage of all parts of this little workhorse's abilities. Do you have any newer videos, possibly with a Featherweight?

If you take the lid off, you can see down to where the lever pivots. Try getting sewing machine oil on to there. Thanks.

Wonderful presentation. If repeating a previous comment, please excuse me. The screwdriver must be used to tighten the needle screw when using a even feed attachment. I didn't and the screw almost immediately worked itself out.

How old is your sewing machine. I was old by Bernina manager that the 810 is he only all iron sewing machine made the rest are mostly plastic so it is a lot lighter .Bernina no longer made the iron because it is oo csstly . have you heard any like that? You look like you know your machine very well. Do you know off hand how much it is worth?

Be careful with your kitty they can swallow the thread and it can cut off their digestive system. Can be fatal. I’m sorry I’m really not trying to be “that commenter” just giving you a heads up. I had to take my kitty to Emergency because of thread.
