I'm sorry, I have a problem with my 726. Can you help me? When I put an empty bobbin, it does not spin and the thread does not wind. What could be the reason? Can you help me? Thank you

Watched this and bookmarking. Luckily both my 530 and 600 have good knobs (tee hee), but good to know this info, thanks for sharing! Do you… tho.. perchance have a spare spring plunger top bar for the needle position for a 600? Mine is totally busted/stuck and I’ve ruined it myself further now because I was impatient….and it doesn’t move (tho I just loosen the 4 screws and manually move it to move the needle to left or right if needed), but I love this machine and would rather it worked without that fussing around, everything else is perfect with it - and manually moving doesn’t allow me to freemotion on-the-fly use the zig-zag stitching I would like to do.

Thank you so much for putting this out there. I’ve had a Janome 1200D sitting for almost 2 years that supposedly had a new upper and lower blade replaced from a dealer. At the time I was helping my dad recover from a lengthy hospital stay so I didn’t play around with my serger too much. It went past the warranty time for repairs, so when I finally did get to sewing I realized something was wrong. So as time marched on I just serged without cutting. Having made my mind up never to take it back to the place that ruined it, I was determined to at least start trouble shooting myself. I discovered the throat plate was over tightened and was binding so my stitch width was not working properly for one ( I always had to push it back manually to make it narrow or wide). Second the screw that would allow an upper blade adjustment is stripped. It seems to come down far enough to cut completely but something isn’t right obviously. I just wanted to try different heights to see if I could get it to cut at all but now with the screw being messed up, I guess I could bore it out? I know hardware stores make bits for getting stripped screws out but wasn’t sure if sewing machines had special tools? Your video at least got me trouble shooting in the right direction! Thanks again.

Brilliant video!! I had this exact issue, different bearing, with this same machine. Would nit have attempted the repair without it.

Hi In Stitches Another super-informative and insightful recording; MANY Thanks! I had recently picked-up one of these machines (class 19) which was described as 'Not Working'....actually found, on delivery, that it was partially dismantled!...the 'Gear Assembly' etc that your video covers was in a plastic bag...with a couple of odd bits rattling around inside the machine! I was able to re-build it thanks to your video BUT: the one SINGLE part that appears to be missing is the Handwheel! I was hoping that that you either had one such available for purchase from amongst your 'Making one Good One from others' projects...OR if you could direct me to some other source?...are you able to confirm what appears to be the case, that the cl19 and cl21 handweels are interchangeable...I'm pretty sure one of the Gear Assemblies you featture is from a cl19? It would be wonderful to get this Beauty sewing again.

Thank you for this video. I have inherited my mums SU and my grandmas Supermatic, unfortunately my mum passed away this year and I never got a chance to learn her machine, so this video has gone a long way to me learning how to use them. Thanks again!

I have a Davis "Victory" machine that I purchased in the North Island. It is a more recent model than yours but is proving difficult to date. It's from somewhere between 1907 and 1914 I believe. My machine has the same decals as yours but as beautiful as they are, they're in rough condition. I've always been curious about the DIC shield on the bed and now I know! I believe your machine, being an older model will probably use a type of "Boye" needle and thats why it appears so long.
@kelanalexander61627 күн бұрын
I've just done a little more research on the needle type. It seems that this machine will take what is called a Davis Long or a Boye #10. The needle should be just shy of 2 inches in length. They definitely don't make these any more but it seems some people use substitute needles of similar dimensions or grind their own.

I got excited when I saw you were looking at the flywheel - I have an Air Electronic whose flywheel looks very similar to the 'modern' version in this video - my problem with it is the opposite, its always engaged and I can't disengage it. I can wind bobbins but I can't stop the needle going up and down while I do.

I also had this problem. I could not move the lever as the pin beneath it is was totally blocked. This pin (with a spring behind it) is moving in and out of the needle bar hole by the movement of the lever. This small hole you can see through the slit. Unfortunately I had to take apart the needle bar mechanism, which is rather simple by taking away the bracket for the lamps first and the to loosen 4 screws. By this you have access to the front of the mechanism. It took some force to get the pin moving again.

I dont think the thing that's supposed to push that thing is working. How is it meant to be inside and where are the bearings I cant see mine its different to yours I think.

I paid a lot and travelled far to have my machine fixed. Two. He scrapped one brand new machine said it was beyond repair didn't even ask me. And I just opened my air elna and he hasn't even cleaned it. There's a thread in it that hasn't been moved. He's a scam artist. Not this guy. A guy in dublin ireland. Absolute twat. The zig zig isn't moving but it's not the spring the forward pusher isn't doing anything. It moves from left to right when I go to button hole but it isn't moving during stitching.

picked up a green bottle oiler today at a garage sale, it was in a sewing box that had all sorts of sewing supplies. The bottle is made of plastic and the base is metal, pretty neat. since its plastic, the color will always be there and it won't ding or dent. I will keep an eye out for the kerosene marked one! lovely thing that I will keep it! such accessories just add flare and flavor to anyones collection. Wonder in place kerosene, one can use mineral oil that is pretty runny! you get away from the smell at least.

Hi I know this video is old but I have the same bernina sewing machine and I just opened the motor is it possible for the capacitor black wire and the blue wire of the speed to be disconnected from the terminals, ive been using the machine and its gone for servicing a few times it was my first time opening it myself and I saw that it's disconnected is this normal (I'm also not from New Zealand)
