Bonjour TheAnatomyLab.

Very intelligent and educated people like our host speak as if natural selection and random mutations had a mind and purpose in our development but refuse to admit the True Mind that created our bodies and our minds. "There is enough light to see, and enough darkness to hide." "But men love darkness and refuse to come to the light less their deeds be exposed.". Jesus

I was so tense and anxious during my time in the military that my nerves in the neck and the muscles are permanently damaged. I get cervicogenic migraines and they can last for months. Only recently diagnosed because i was only getting treated for my shoulders. I’m glad there’s videos like this that explain how everything works together.

Oh man 😳 thank you for motivating me more to keep up on my stretch exercises and massages for my neck and shoulders 😅 they too get extremely tense, nearly hard as a rock when I'm stressed. Used to be because of high school (unsafe environment + stress + heavy bag) but now that I'm done, I'm hoping I can have them relaxed more during college 😂 it's crazy how fast they relaxed and returned to normal after summer hit.

I have migraine headaches and cluster headaches as well. I take rizatripton and it has been a God send. Very rarely does it not work for me. There are other drugs out there for this awful suffering as well. I have a very sensitive system so I can’t tolerate most drugs but this one doesn’t give me any trouble at all.

I was in a 5-vehicle pileup in 1970 at age 14. We were 750 miles from home and were first to be hit by a fully-loaded semi who lost his brakes, coming down a hill where our car was stopped in traffic on an onramp to Hy 70 in Kansas City. My entire family was in the car. Our heads whipped back and forth with each impact. Several of us lost consciousness, but nobody died. Our car, a station wagon, looked like an accordion. We had to be removed through a shattered side window. X-rays were taken at the E.R. but they were mainly looking for signs of concussion. My teeth were knocked loose. Little was said about our necks. Months later my dad was forced to settle with the insurance company for the ER costs and compensated for the cost of a used vehicle. I am 69 years old now and have suffered the effects of this accident every day of my life. I've had lots of physical therapy and had a neck fusion of c4-c5 in 2018. My arms still go completely numb if I sleep in the wrong position. I awaken every morning with a headache. There is never a day without pain. I've lived my life despite it, but often wonder what it feels like to have a normal neck. Thanks for your videos, I really appreciate them!

I was in a car accident where my mom got whiplash, It was horrible for her. She eventually passed on from it after years of suffering. I can say for certain, if you're ever in an accident, go in and get checked out even if you feel fine. I have a question that I'm hoping someone can answer for me, what happens to medical records after someone passes away? Now that we're in the digital age, are they there forever? There's nothing I don't like about these videos, I like the candidness and well placed humor.

I was in a car accident in 2020 and have been dealing with health ailments since. I recently found out I have a herniated disc in my neck between my c5 and c6 vertebrae, and also experience cervicogenic migraines. At the time of the accident I was told I had a cervical strain but I believe I have whiplash syndrome, as I deal with pain almost everyday, despite physical therapy and neck exercises. Thank you for sharing this informational video!

I was rear-ended in 1990, and my coworkers were laughing at me because my neck was so stiff I couldn't turn my head, so I'd turn the top of my body if I had to see to the side. I went through physical therapy, traction and - what made it feel the best - injections below the base of my skull. It took a few months, but it definitely got better.

I had a car accident while pregnant. I was so dizzy, in pain, etc. Basically I felt so bad I couldn't care for my baby very well. Went to every Doctor known to man, they all told me there was nothing wrong (this was in the 80's). My Grandma told me to go to a chiropractor. I thought she was crazy but at this point I was willing to try anything. The chiropractor told me I had whiplash and it was obvious on the x-rays. The first adjustment I had made me feel like 40 lbs was lifted off my shoulders. Went to the chiropractor for several months, felt better and better, and have had no problems since. Whiplash is a dirty word to me.

I live in the UK & our health care system is different here. We have the NHS (National Health Service), which is free at the point of service, but paid for via taxes. Unfortunately, chiropractors are seen as alternative therapies here, which means they're not available on the NHS. This frustrates me. Not only does it mean I'm unable to access the care of a chiropractor (I'm on welfare & can't afford it), but it would save our NHS millions if they made chiropractors available! People would be able to come off pain medications (which are subsidised by the NHS, even if you pay the fixed fee), people wouldn't need much more expensive long-term therapies, people wouldn't get worse & worse, etc. Chiropractors do an amazing job.

Not only did I suffer whiplash, my head actually broke the seat pin that takes 300 pounds of pressure to break. I had a fractured skull, traumatic brain injury, the whiplash, broken bones, internal damage you name it I ended up with all of it because of an idiot that wasn’t paying attention that hit me in a two seater going 70 miles an hour.

@@TarikRom-hu3jj my accident left me unable to walk, and a doctor told me you will never walk, you will never have children, you will never have a functioning life. It took quite a few years before I could get myself out of that wheelchair to walk. Then I ended up pregnant with my son and giving birth to him. My son is the one who got me to walk much better with a walker because he started walking at six months. It took me quite a few more years before I could really walk well without any appliance. If I had actually listened to the doctor, I wouldn’t be where I am functioning in life and raising my son. I had and still have short-term memory issues. I also have retrograde amnesia and don’t know my life at all prior to that accident. It’s surprising that my husband at the time really Worked hard with me to realize that he was mine. I can’t regulate my body temperature so hot temperatures are really bad for me and cold. I haven’t been able to figure it out just the right thing that makes life easier for me but having a strong, willpower, determination, and persistence to be Better than I was. Once I was really back on my feet good my husband ended up passing away so now I’m just trying to do it all myself. I really hope everything gets better for you, just stay positive, as positive as you can possibly be. it really does help to stay positive. I will be praying for you.

Before I turned 25, I had been through two rear end collisions where the cars were going over 40 MPH and broke my left arm near the wrist. Feeling off with headaches, strange sensations in my arms and hands and weird twitching of my fingers are normal now. There isn't really anything I can do now. Trying to keep doing the helpful exercises and other therapies keep those issues under control.

I was in a really bad car accident in 1976. Rear wheel drive, iced-over highway, big curve. People were passing me at much higher speeds. I started to lose traction, tried to "fish tail" my way, *almost* managed it, then slammed into the concrete barrier on one side, bounced, did a 540, hit the other barrier facing the wrong way, and almost went over it. Who needs a second car to rear-end you?! Nearly 50 years later I still have issues, my shoulder muscles are in permanent spasm, and it has caused tears and SLAPs in my rotator. We didn't have the kind of imaging then that we have now -- just x-rays. And my beautiful Javelin was destroyed.

I feel for you! Your story is the most similar to mine that I've come across so far (and I've been a spectator in comment sections like this for a long time haha). I'm glad you're still here to tell the tale too, and wish you relief from the pain and strength for your journey! Mine was in 2017 and trade the ice for rain, hydroplaned and almost rode the wave but she started to slide and I knew...also rear wheel drive. Trade out your concrete barrier (ouch!) for a guardrail post for initial impact at around 70 mph - my front plate was wrapped around that post inside out. The car wrapped itself up in the guardrail whilst spinning wildly, then was spit out about 100 yards away, on all four wheels but mangled and also facing the wrong direction on the freeway in the same slow lane I started out in. The only glass left intact was my driver window (a miracle) and the windshield (probably because it was replaced not long prior). My hair was pulled back tightly when I started out that day - it took me awhile to realize that it was down after and then wound up finding the hair tie behind and under my seat at the junkyard. Thank God I had no passengers, and most of all didn't hit any other vehicles. Her name was Roxanne. The car lol. 1993 300ZX, the first year made that came equipped with an air bag only on the driver's side. It deployed as designed, and played a huge role in my still being alive and all. Also, always wear your seatbelts, everyone!!! I'll always miss that sweet ride though, had just put a clutch in a few months before. I joke that I shouldn't have been riding in the slow lane...and wasn't even having fun that day, just calmly going to class with extra time I was planning to grab coffee with...but all jokes aside, the brain injury, post-concussive syndrome, neck injury/whiplash which how involves herniated cervical discs, possible TOS, and a plethora of progressively worsening symptoms have been no walk in the park, but I'm eternally grateful to God for the way he preserves us for His purpose - no doubt in my personal life, The Lord saved my life that day! I'm glad he saved yours too, and I'm sorry for the loss of your Javelin...I truly understand that kind of pain, too! Peace, love, and healing to all who may read this!

Lateral whiplash that took a year to fully heal from, but still to this day I get pins and needles down my arm

I wondered if id cracked anything. Nothing hurt on touch. Just extremely sore. Took literal weeks and weeks for that to finally heal. Its crazy because you can crick your neck or throw out your back for a few days with the slightest odd, fast twitch, awkward movement.

Thanks for doing this one. While I've never experienced whiplash I know it's something that can be scammed rather easily. Staged accidents and "on purpose" accidents where the scammers will target cars that are more expensive and thus more insurance, get in front of them and hit the brakes and cause an accident are causing car insurance to sky rocket. These so-called accidents can often cause fatalities. So, watch out while driving! If somebody cuts you off be ready to hit the brakes - hard! Also having cameras front and back can prove if it really was an "accident".

Thank you so much for covering this subject! In June of last year, I tripped over a stack of rubber mats, landing with my body weight on my hyperflexed right knee/hip, and breaking my fall with my left arm, which I’m pretty sure was almost dislocated (I was an EMT for 25 years, I’ve seen plenty of dislocations). Didn’t even realize I’d gotten whiplash until the numbness and tingling started creeping down my right arm and torso. The left shoulder pain from breaking my fall was very distracting. Due to circumstances beyond my control, and some incompetence within my primary care's office, I didn’t get an MRI or neurology consult until January of this year. Less than a week after the MRI, I was in surgery for a severely herniated disc at C4/5. The disc had nearly severed the spinal cord. Amazingly, I was still able to walk, although I was starting to have some trouble with that after another fall and another, slightly less severe, whiplash injury. I know how lucky I was (“C4, breathe no more”, and “C3/4/5 keep the diaphragm alive”, right?). I'm still having some issues with my right arm, which has caused me to file for disability, but I’m still here. Thanks for having such an interesting, informative channel.

I had whiplash at 19. A girl was texting hit me without slowing, 2 people were involved in front of me she hit me so hard (we were at a stoplight, she caused me to hit a car and that car to hit a bus). I rested 3 days and it seemed to feel better... over the next year I had progressive shoulder/neck/arm pain. I actually lost most of the function in 1 hand, saw a doc and an xray showed what the crash did. Saw a neurologist, physical therapist and was able to restore function.. it still hurt quite often, I'd have periods of intense neck/shoulder pain.. and that would come and ago. In my late 30s I ended up with severe low back pain. Saw a spine specialist and it was out of place. The chiropractor explained my neck was so out of place it actually caused a cascade effect over time (especially with how much I loved running) my neck is almost curved backwards and my entire spine isn't looking how it should.. again over a period of time.. in my 40s now and my mid back actually hurts now too, non stop constant chronic pain in low, mid and cervical.. causes both my arms and legs to fall asleep.. anyway, I could see how over time whiplash may cause knee or hip pain even if it isn't directly injured.

I hated that I wasn't supposed to keep ice on it the entire time. I was in another accident around 15 years later. My car was t-boned and totaled by someone who ran a stop. I felt the old area flare back up to that same pain sooner than the previous time. I'm older now and I have osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. When I have inflammation flare ups I feel the area where I was injured get pretty mad.

I like that this helps some of my life make a LOT more sense... Thanks for the Grade 1 ...2 ...3 explanation. I knew the difference between a strain and sprain, but the grades of damage weren't too easily available when I was still in school... haha... I ride a motorcycle. I have been riding now for going on 30+ years, and I HAVE seen some pretty gnarly sh*t... I was asked after an incident about 5 years ago, how I could just shake it off, when other people had far less time and were younger and more durable than me (to look at them apparently) and they'd either quit riding for fear, been crippled, or died... Now, the incident was a "rear-ender"... SO I was at a Stop sign, and a car hit the back of the bike, and I rolled over their hood before landing on my back on the ground. It's instinct at this point in my life, NOT to stay on the asphalt, so I bounce right back up, and scramble for the shoulder to sit and "self-assess" while the driver was freaking out and her passenger was getting on the phone to call it in... I LOVE my bike, but first things FIRST... Rear-enders are a fact of life for motorcycles. Drivers apparently LOSE most of their depth perception wherever a bike is involved, and I DO HATE being "in the front" at intersections. There's literally NOWHERE to go unless you like trading one gamble for another... I ALSO wear what some in moto-cross affectionately call a "horse collar"... It's about a 1.5 inch (roughly 37-ish mm) dense rubber neck protector that gives my helmet just about a quarter-inch (6 to 8 mm) clearance for swiveling my head, because I ABSOLUTELY MUST be able to swivel as far as possible, quickly... BUT it also allows a slight shrug of my shoulders to lift the helmet to strain against the chin strap... THIS is helpful in the case I go over the handlebars, because that tends to land me on my head... one way or another... It ALSO puts some added resistance to any form of tipping my head up OR down, so the whiplashing effects get somewhat diminished. THEY ARE NOT ELIMINATED... Make no mistake about that! It still sucks, but just not as bad as not wearing the friggin' thing... AND so, I have riding buddies who've known my antics on the streets, trails, back roads, gravel paths, and all that ON THE SAME STREET BIKE... and that led to the question. HOW do I put myself through the riding and everything with it, and shake it off? I mean, I just got my bike catapolted out from under me ENTIRELY across the road, and bounced over a hood and fell on my back... BUT I bounced right up... AND even after the EMS crew checked me out, I was considered "Okay"... From this video... I think it's pretty plain. That "horse collar" does its job. I may (read "DO") still get strains and sprains and dinged up on the road when things go sideways... like getting hit by a car... BUT I've gotten through a LOT of "Grade 1's" rather than putting myself at risk of "Grade 2" at the least or "Grade 3" or even worse with an internal decapitation... SO... I'm going to put it this way. Your head (on average) already weighs 10 pounds (4 Kg ish) and putting on the helmet ADDS to that, all resting on top of your cervical spine. That can ONLY make whiplash injuries worse, unless you DO something about it. SO I got a neck protector (aka "horse collar") and I wear the thing. If you ride, please, WEAR YOUR GEAR!!! It won't do you ANY damn good what so ever by looking pretty on your dressers, stands, hooks, mantlepiece, or the backs of chairs at home! ;o)

Yes! Such an interesting condition! I have several clients with this condition and I also have had random to constant ringing in the ears since getting tick diseases when I was around the age of 12… I did notice in the last year that eating plants high in oxalates cause instant ear ringing also taking supplements like turmeric that are high oxalate also cause instant ear ringing. I quit all that crap and now just eat meat, eggs, and butter (and my coffee which I am careful about the quality & methods of production)

Car crash in 1993, no airbags, car hit ours at an angle, drivers side. I was looking to my right. Head hit my knee, then back up to the headrest, then back to "normal". I said, "my head hurts, my neck hurts, my back hurts, my wrist hurts, my ankle hurts. A very long time later, I was walking without looking like I had a poker shoved up somewhere! C3 and T5 were the worst. When considered "healed" I could , and can, predict snow days down my left arm to my pinkie and ring finger. I cannot hold my head straight when lying down and I am willing to bet it is not straight when I am upright. The concussion was never addressed.

I should have gotten a lawyer. It's been 38 years since I was in an auto accident where I knocked out the side window with my head. The truck hit the back end of my car. I spun three times into oncoming traffic and slammed into the median where my car almost rolled over. I hit the median so hard I moved it. That's when I knocked out my side window. Also, I gripped the steering wheel for dear life. Believe it or not I walked away with only glass in my hands and hair. Eventually some xrays (I think) were done of my neck and I was told I was fine. I have permanent memory loss from that day on. I used to be able to memorize long passages of scripture. After the accident I knew the beginning and the end, but the middle was gone. From that time forward, I could only memorize a few words. As far as pain goes my hands, shoulders, neck and head are in constant pain. I have pinched nerves c3 & c4. I see a neurologist for trigger point injections and a physical therapist. The guy who hit me showed up in traffic court with a lawyer because he had frequent accidents. He drove a delivery truck for a florist.

I have two clients who have whiplash - one from a ride at the fair, the other from a rollercoaster. They are both over 40yo and both were young teens when it happened. And they both continue to have problems all these years later. One started with chiropractic care within a few years of the incident, the other didn’t get chiropractic care until 13 years later. Both continue to have vertigo, headaches, and pain at the base of the skull in the neck. Both say chiropractic care helped tremendously but they continue to have problems. Now they come to me and I have been trained in the Barral method of neural manipulation in which we discuss whiplash and how it affects the brain, neck, and spine/cord, and we learn techniques to help address the damage done to the muscles, dura, fascia, ligaments, brain & spine. It’s not a magic fix for the damage done, but it can really help reduce persistent symptoms. Makes me concerned for my daughter who of course loves those fair rides and roller coasters ugh 😣

A car in the lane to my right was traveling 45 mph through the green. She lost control hitting the car behind me. That car hit my left rear and quarter panel. The out of control car hit my rear end full on. Then, the same car spun around and hit my right front quarter panel, where it stopped. PT and home exercises, my neck is much better. However, it is still sore. Additionally, it is easy for my neck to catch and hurt even 3 years later. Sigh...

Thanks to you and your colleagues' enthusiasm and clear explanations, along with common examples of what you're discussing, you're giving us all a better understanding of just how amazing the functionality of our bodies are! I was in a car accident last December - 2/12/2022 as a passenger. The person driving the car actually rear ended the car in front of us on a highway. The traffic was very busy so luckily we weren’t going very fast but the air bags opened. I was on my phone at the time and my left hand got sprained by getting smashed between the airbag, phone and my chest, and I got disc bulges on the cervical C3-C4 + C4-C5. Since I was the younger person in the car the doctors in the hospital did not check me too much even though I complained about back and hand pain. Only a few days later my hand was set so it could rest, and as the doctor said, ‘the pain will only worsen the next days’ my entire upper body muscles from the shoulders to hands were so stiff I couldn’t turn in bed. Getting out of bed in the morning made me cry from pain. It eventually passed after a month but did resurface a month and a half later. Since the disc bulges aren’t too severe the only ‘treatment’ I got was some pain meds and to be told I should be careful. It’s been 7 months now and it’s all still tender and sensitive. Drive safely.

A point to add, whiplash starts in the lumbar region, when the chair moves forward the pelvis is the tail of the snake. So a lot of legproblems can be a pelvis shift, SI block, etc. It is not that the neck causes knee problems. Also, a lot of mental issues, concentration, memory, eye focus, verbal word sausage, tinitus, etc can be related to the cervical whiplash.

I liked learning the vocabulary [i.e.: strain and sprain], because this helps us to dialog with doctors. If you did this in every video, then this would be helpful. Also, if you made a video entirely about the most useful vocabulary when we interact with medical professionals, then that would be helpful. You could take it a step further by linking to Chubbyemu's video where he recites the medical dictionary from scratch. Link directly to the part where he recites the vocabulary.

I got whiplash 2 years ago, I rear ended someone who had pulled out into the highway off a side road, and I was going 65 mph. Somehow, the air bags never deployed but my car was a total loss regardless. I've had issues with sleeping, increased ringing in my ears, crackling in my neck whenever I turn it, headaches and migraines, and I've had to change the way I sleep (sleeping on my back, I can't sleep any other way besides that) and get a new pillow specifically for neck support. I've recently been going to the gym to strengthen my back and my neck, as well as other places, but I haven't been to the hospital because 1. Its too expensive, even with insurance, and 2. I've been there 3 times, both for my sciatica (which I discovered was actually a pinched nerve in my L4-L5 vertebrae) and my neck, and they say they never found anything wrong with my neck. I also can't afford physical therapy, but more or less I've just been dealing with the headaches, the taste of blood in my mouth (which I fear is cerebral spinal fluid leakage), and the mood swings from lack of sleep and general pain the past couple of years.

The crucial necessity of training the immune system to tolerate particular types of bacteria is so fascinating. I remember many videos on the gut, but I don’t remember any that go into detail about how the body manages the relationship with the bacteria and other foreign substances found there. That would be really cool to see!

Back in 2018, I was a passenger in a vehicle where a deer walked into the car, which was going highway speed at the time of collision. My friend was able to swerve so that the deer could do less damage, but did so with enough force that I thought we were going to roll for a moment. We didn't, but I didn't emerge unscathed. I didn't realize the full extent of my injury until several days later, when my friend checked in with insurance info. Up until then, I hadn't connected my stiffness and soreness to the accident because I otherwise walked away. I was able to regain the vast majority of function because of physio and massage, but I still deal with the aftereffects. If I'm going to have issues with stress and tension, it will be in my right shoulder first, always. When I took up swimming again, I had a heck of a time with my right shoulder, but I'm doing better now with a little extra mindfulness about my form. Now, as soon as I hear of someone who was freshly in a car accident, I tell them to keep an eye on things, especially a day or so later, because that's when the full extent of injuries become apparent. It's something I had to learn the hard way. I don't think my treatment and recovery progression would have changed had I gone to emerg earlier, but I would have gone, "wtf why do I hurt so badly" a lot less.

I have eds. After a whiplash, my atlas was subluxed. It trapped spinal nerves. I lost all feeling apart from an occasional painful pins and needles, and I couldn't swallow, had stroke symptoms, etc etc etc. It took a year for anyone to do anything (it was a mate who did sports massage, that found out what was going on, as hospital staff ignored me), and it took 3 years of awfulness to get nerves, swallowing etc back. Not back to before, but good enough. It left me with extra health bingo stamps though 🙄.

@moinasandon5812 too many health professionals refuse to believe that we can indeed sublux our vertebrae! I've had flexion, extension, rotation imaging done. The spine doc said no problems. My primary care disagreed and diagnosed with spondylolisthesis. I have had on ACDF done because the ruptured disc was compressing my spinal cord. But the rest of the ruptured discs are "being monitored." I'm glad your friend was able to help you get at least some of your mobility back! Gentle Zebra Hugs!

I still live with neck problems because of whiplash. I was in car accident at the age of 17. I’m now 64 years old . It limits me in some tasks that I like to do at home . I just do what I can get away with and some tasks I just have to get someone else to do. Thank you for the great information. It was very interesting 😊👍🏻

I did a lawn dart style head plant into deep sand off a galloping horse when I was 15. Horse tripped and fell to his knees. It hyper bent my neck so far forward that when I woke up my nose was in my chest. It tore my upper left trapezius and cracked the tip of a small bone at the point of the shoulder. And of course injured a lot of the neck muscles. So lucky I didn't break my neck, but it's still a problem 50 years later. Deep tissue massage has helped so much.

This was great and very informative video. I never had whiplash but I hit quite hard a few times in some objects (by head). It's nothing nice: headache, lost see for a few seconds, etc. Nothing more serious happens to me. BTW Mr. Skeleton has a right arm injury 😉
