Me too. He does a great job of pointing out tab points and small sliders and other details. Also his lighting work is excellent so we can see those hard to see places between joints. He also is great at letting you see what is going on in the transformation without his hands getting in the way. Aside from him I love the guy that does stop motion transformations where you can't see the person's hands at all. Those are awesome.

Andrew I think 1st and 3rd party companies could take a lot from the way that emgo does his transformation only videos. Paik4life does MMC’s transformation videos and they are good aswell but emgo is very particular and methodical with his approach. I think these companies would be better served to produce KZbin based instructional videos than producing paper based instructions, as you can pause the video slow the video down, it’s just another way that these companies can improve and develop the product they sell to the consumer

I had a little laugh at the detolf for the mint instruction collection. The ad straight after it was like a little laugh break, after the the ad though the mood had gone. I would move that ad break forward to prolong the good instruction display atmosphere to follow.

Though it would take some money to do, one thing that could be nice is if there were digital instructions that you could download that gives a full 360 perspective of the instructions and small animations of each step that you can play at your own pace. Lego Digital Designer's auto-gen instructions is a good example of this.

I'm very fond of TMAN978's video reviews and part of that is because of the way he shows and explains the transformation processes. He'll also let you know ahead of time which parts are scary and which you need to be careful manipulating so you don't end up breaking the things.

Yo! I'Il check the step by step while transforming. Then go Bobby then Emgo. But shout out to all the reviewers. That bit about the step by step looking the same and I missed 2 steps is so true😤🤬. The reviewers help with those little inside pieces that twist one way or turn the other between modes. I broke my first 3rd party (Apollyon). Thanks to Bobby and the reviewers taking those lumps🤕though transformation to help us, that was the last I've broken😃. Great topic✌

I’ve found emgo to be the best guy for a tutorial of transformation. Clean visual and brilliantly explained. There is some truth in what Robert Detolf said about watching your transformation tutorials too. When emgo transformers them everything works smoothly and seems to go well for him, it’s all perfect for the most part. Where as shit can and goes go wrong in your transformation videos which has happened to me on multiple accessions making yours a more relatable review.

I kinda fall in the same category where I don't use instructions. I've always seen transformers for the most part as puzzles to be solved and after you transform it completely for the first time you kind of lose a lot of that sense of curiosity in the figure. Whenever I see early preview pics of transformers I'm always first thinking "woah how does that transform?" Then after a while I finally get my hands on a peice and transform it myself ,9 times out of 10 what usually happens afterwards is that I lose that sense of wonder and curiosity.

Even Hasbro who's been doing this since 1985 or whatever still sucks from time to time, and I think it's mostly like Bobby said, it's those weird small things where you're like what happened? Step 9 looks just like step 8. And I agree, pics of the actual product would probably help.

I have always used instructions pretty much. The last thing I transformed was Maketoys Cupola, which actually had decent instructions. Dx9 Richthofen had some too, sucks that my figure's back halves wont tab in. I think both Paik and Skull do a good job showing you how to transform a figure. I have BadCube Sunstreaker unopened, so I may try to transform it without instructions if I get super bored. I actually like Wardog's transformation, but the instructions were so so. The ones for Dx9's Salmoore and Cocamone are hot garbage. When I finally get my Maketoys Thrust and FT Sheridan, I may not use the instructions. Fun fun.

I let you guys suffer, then I watch your transformation videos if I have to do a transformation. Fanstoys figures usually come in robot mode, and I keep them that way. I may transform one every other month or so, but not too frequently. Only if I want to change the order in the shelf to have a different scene. I like that MMC does instruction videos with paik4life, and the chosen prime with peolesdru. Sometimes I referred to emgo and of course our friend Mr Skullface. So, there are plenty of great options to skip the instructions manual.

Not a fan of MMC but I think they have the right idea with video tutorials. I get more out of watching someone do the transformation (without edits) than trying to interpret poorly designed drawings which amount to partial instruction. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth millions.

Depends for me. I don’t hate doing it that but for certain things like a megatron gun mode I’ve watched someone else or multiple people talk me through it on a video in a monkey see monkey do style because I don’t want to push something the wrong way and break it and I know certain moves won’t be instinctual. I always do cars myself for some reason. Sometimes I mix it up and get halfway on something and then double check what I’m going to do next against the instructions or a video if instructions are not helping, you should at least do this option sometimes, but I do kind of get people who like to do them all 100% themselves out the box because that is part of the ‘game’ of buying a transformer.

Who didn't discuss broken pieces, loose joints, and/or scratched paint, but puts "as is" in the description. Probably knowing the faults of the figure. I call bullshit on your FansToys segment. FT Jabber makes a liar of you all. That transformation doesn't get easier when you know what you're supposed to do. Hell, having the toy designer standing over your shoulder and telling which parts to love and how wouldn't make that transformation easier. Sometimes a bad transformation is a bad transformation no matter how good the instructions are.
