Thanks for putting up this video... it has helped me more than the lessons I got from my instructor. And they keep saying "Get lessons, don't watch youtube..." doh! You have a good way of explaining things, it all makes sense.

I'm just trying to learn this sport at the age of 66 and found your concepts and explanations very helpful. I was impressed with how well you articulated your concepts without the extra on water video and visuals. I've watched all the very good Kitesurf College videos along with many others as well... Thanks Much

hi Joeseph wow THANKS for your super encouraging words, so Im just getting the hang of you tube, I want to be part of the c ommunity and Im just working out how I can contribute so watch out for TOMS ONE MINUTE TIPS! Very exciting as I cant and dont want to compete with all the other creators, I just dont have the skills yet but what I do have is lots of teaching experience and the ability to breat things down and make it simple, my videos have been too long so one minute and just the most important points so people have a chance to remember the tips!

Let me know how you get on on Joeseph, I promise you its worth it and 66 is young, my oldest student was 76 and I know two others personally who are in their 80s and ripping.

Looks like an excellent beginner video. I'm a 66 y old advanced beginner kiteboarder and ride exclusively heelside on a twintip. How would you break down the carving transition? I've tried a few, made one successfully last spring at Turks in super steady light wind but at home in South Dakota w/ gusty winds and intermediate venue I'm either getting ripped off my board or losing power in the kite. Should I break the maneuver into several parts, ie, be working on trying to carve downwind then power the kite and ride heelside back upwind (going both ways of course) before trying to do an entire carving transition? Also, if you rated the carving transition on a 1-10 scale in difficulty what would you give it? Finally, my goal is to ride a surfboard in Cabarete in the spring. Likely I won't get out any more at home as it's cold and raining (won't be long and it'll be snow). Thanks.

Excellent subject matter! I needed this before I got up on my first runs. I hadn't practiced the controlled stop and ended up taking off on a runaway train ride, then crashing at high speed!

Loved this video! Super helpful thank you. ✨🙌 I’m in Paje, Zanzibar currently, just came back from my first lesson. Gave the standing up a few tries and hearing your tips will help a lot to improve tomorrow. For future videos, a slow-mo situation how you turn your tips into reality would be great 🙃 Also first time I came across your videos, ignore it if that’s implemented already ;)

This has been quite helpful, patience is key, thank you for this! Currently struggling with getting up from a sitting position as I fear to crash and damage my kite like I did very recently! But with this video, I feel some confidence building in and I'm ready to give it a good few meters go.

I’ve had 2 full lessons of just attempting to ride the board properly and failing. Wiping out 60 times isn’t much fun. Having 2 very different experience instructors also doesn’t help. Hate learning new sports but have to think of the end goal…..

Hey. Thanks for the tips. I just took 8 hours of classes in Brazil. I didn’t get to the point of using the board, and now I’m back home and would like to buy a trainer kite, so I don’t forget what I learned. I’m also going to the cable park to get some board skills. Is there a trainer kite you recommend? Thanks!

Great to hear Thiago yes anything by Flexifoil or Ozone, 1-2 meter is good and its better to get one with a bar and a safety system.
