Ah, the Bass/Baritone marimba. as a percussion player, I am personally obsessed with this instrument. My dream is to play this deep instrument.

The deep and buzzy marimbas really are amazingly fun and tactilely satisfying to play. Perhaps you could build one in order to make the dream come true.

I love how the resonators make it sound! It's like a bunch of very musical geese! Did you make your mallets as well? They seem much thicker than anything I've seen.
@woodsmith_18 жыл бұрын
lol! Thanks!! Yes, the mallets are lacrosse ball turned on a lathe, mounted on .75" birch dowel.

Is that what #f Bb bars are?
@woodsmith_18 жыл бұрын
Technically yes, as this instrument does have an F# and a Bb, though I think what you may have in mind are the "Orff" instruments and their interchangable keys. This instrument requires re-stringing to swap the keys and the tubes are tuned to match one particular frequency, so key - swapping wouldn't be great for this baritone.
