Great video. I am certainly guilty of blowing past the GPS/G3X startup screens with the 'continue' button, and your explanation of the fields to cross reference was new and something I'll incorporate. I would add that I do a physical AP check as part of pre-taxi, ensuring both trim switch and ap disco switches cut it off, and that ap commands elicit appropriate flight control responses. I also check connectivity for my Bluetooth devices - while not a certificated element of my avionics they are quite important. I ensure that my iPad with Foreflight and my headset connection (Lightspeed DZ give me in-flight CO warnings - has happened once, so I take it very seriously) are active, noise protection on and volumes appropriate. Not sure if you cross check panel with Foreflight at all - I don't tend to - but I usually do my flightplan in Foreflight, and then send it to the panel, and then cross check to ensure the two match. Would like to know about the GPS annunciation though - what causes it on startup / when stationary to display 'LPV' and then revert to 'Term'? You also have LNAV in this field illuminated in one section of your video. Why does this read differently in different ground situations?

P.S. I fly an RV-7 w/ G3X, GTN 625 (no radio version) and GFC 500 ap, so your system is highly relevant for me.

All good points. I made this video for our flying club and those suggested checks of yours (AP, Bluetooth, noise cancellation etc) are all incorporated in our checklist; that's why I don't mention them. Also - this stuff on my video, could be defined as IFR-specific, whereas those checks would likely apply to any flight. As to the LPV annunciation, the box is telling you that it is capable of that level of sensitivity. The moment you go past that screen, it will default to something else (depending on what you have loaded in the GTN). If you have nothing loaded, it will likely default to OCN or ENR. If you have a FPLN loaded, it will (as you mention) say TERM. The reason it says LNAV somewhere else (good catch!) is just sloppiness on my part. This was sort of cobbled together with various pics I had taken at different times. Glad you enjoyed. BTW, it sounds like you have mostly Garmin stuff. If you have a GFC-500 AP please watch my other video on "Glass Panel Failures". It has some interesting (and relatively unknown/misunderstood) stuff on erroneous airspeed situations.

@@pnzrldr sweet plane!

Actually.... you know what? I retract that previous statement. There's no way to have had a flight plan loaded since you just powered the GTN up. As soon as you go past that screen, you should see OCN for Oceanic (the lowest accuracy). Then as soon as you put a waypoint into the box, you will see ENR.

@@AV8BS I usually start a flight plan (incorrectly?) with my current airport, not my first enroute waypoint. Is that why I usually see TERM you think, instead of ENR, as you see in the vid?
