Thanks for the valuable information. However, I was taught that anytime you start insulin permanently, discontinue Glipzide due to the increased risk of hypoglycemia.

I’m on Novolin N and Novolin R, I do not have a pump because I have no health benefits whatsoever. Can’t afford insurance and can’t find a way to qualify for help…a couple of decades ago my endocrinologist once told me that “the sad truth is that in this country, the poor die.” Well I’m still alive and kicking but I would like to know how to properly calculate my insulin so I may continue on. Thanks!

Hello Dr.Fatima Have a query Basal/bolus + NPH - In this do we have to use two types of insulin differently or only type is to be administered. As in the question there were 24 units And you divide 24 in to two parts only 2/3 and 1/3 But in method it's 2/3 + 1/3 at two times that is breakfast and dinner. Can you please clarify
