@chargv Жыл бұрын
It's not that simple. I have flown with cat's and dogs multiple times, from Europe, the US, South America and Asia. It depends on each company, and even the same company applies different rules depending on the country you are boarding; it even varies depending on the mood of the flight attendant in each specific flight. You can make everything right, arrive at the airplane, and be informed that, unfortunately, your pet will have to be dispatched. The only kind of bulletproof way to ensure your pet is traveling with you is by getting a document stating that your pet is an emotional support animal, meaning, you depend on that animal at your side to travel. Even then you can be asked to take a later flight if, for some reason, your pet is not allowed inside the cabin.

@Nylak-Otter Жыл бұрын
Too late now. The air scent track wouldn't last on an airplane tarmac more than 48 hours for one of our better dogs, especially with how the air flow is affected around giant metal flying objects. It needs to impact organic ground to make a true track scent that can be followed after that, and anything paved rarely allows for that. You'd need a team to surround the paved area and hope she touched soil or grass, and even then once the track was found you couldn't be certain it was hers unless she was injured and bled or had fur pulled off and left. You have to mobilize air scent trackers very quickly. It's not like the movies. My human remains detection K9s can find human decomp after almost 20 years, but that's a whole different process.

There needs to be more federal laws in the US about moving and protecting "live luggage"(i only say that term cause it's probably be easier to pass) and gps tracking. If I can track my uber eats or amazon order I should know where my pet is. As a pet owner I would pay the fees needed to track my pet no matter what transition. The reporter who said he’s not a dog owner never needs to report on this ever again. He doesn’t own a dog for a reason: he doesn’t care. If he did care, he would understand how heartbreaking and infuriating this situation is for the owner and every other pet-lover in America. When it comes to pets, they deserve just as much care as a human. Who cares about “legalities” when it’s a living breathing creature who IS your family. There’s a way to be compassionate and also state legalities of situations. This guy didn’t care at all.

I am going to be picking up my fur baby from the Dominican Republic, since its considered a high risk of rabies place, we need to have permission from the CDC in order for her to enter America again (my fur baby was born in America but she was living in D.R for a bit due to COVID). The other thing needed is that only specific airport entries are allowed. My assumption is that maybe she didn't have the CDC permission (maybe she didn't know) or perhaps she went to one of the airport where entry is not allowed but that's me assuming. I'd like to know as well why she was denied entry.

There is one part of the story the video does not discuss much. The woman was deemed inadmissible to the United States by Customs and Immigration. Customs detained her overnight to return her to the country of origin. USCIS did not have the facilities to care for the dog. Delta offered to assist. Offering to assist is not an excuse for losing the dog, but the other option would have been to say to the customer "What are you going to do with the dog, USCIS will not keep it, we cannot keep it". Perhaps a solution would have been to call a local pet shelter and see if they would come to the airport and pick up the dog. Remember - the woman was not free to leave the airport.

How was this possible? The dog looks like a Chihuahua, this would fit underneath your seat and this is one of the airlines that does allow this. The reality is the passenger did not have proper visa or something which is why she was detained. Delta was doing her a favour by offering to care for the dog until she gets her own paperwork sorted out to enter the country. Delta had already done they duty. It's like a friend offering to keep an eye on your dog so that you can go take care of something. Then the dog runs off from the friend. This is the same thing. So that lady should have been grateful and not insulted. She is obviously well to do coming from the Dominican Republic with her dog who was sitting with her inflight, so she was wealthy enough to pay for two tickets. most in the Dominican Republic cannot afford to do so.

The dog wasn’t in baggage. It’s tiny and gets to ride in the cabin. The customs officials took the dog away and made the lady spend the night in detention, because they said her Visa was not acceptable. They were supposed to care for the dog and return it to the lady in the morning when she was to board her flight back to DR. However, they showed up empty handed. They should never have made her give up the dog. She paid the fee to fly with the dog as her personal item(inside the cabin), so it should have stayed with her as her personal item.
