Trump got off the federal charges because the court of appeals found that they were illegally applied to him. The people who did this have actually gotten in trouble and may go to jail. A lot of his lies were far far worse than Hunter one time saying that he wasn’t using drugs. Legal experts say that jail time for that was an unfair sentence. It is the job of the president to use pardons to correct unfair sentences via pardons. That’s exactly why the president was given that power. It was correctly used in this case. It was the right thing to do even if Hunter was not his son.
