Thanks for vital info. I had looked into the soap guild one so that was a confirmation. Wanted another option to look into so thanks for number 2 rec for soaps and candles. Glad this was not a real situation for you, which is what I thought when I first saw the title. Its bad you can do ur due diligence and a lawyer and customer still try to sue you when it was total negligence on the part of the customer. Customers dont tell the whole story to their lawyers or the lawyer knows and still will try to get them and the client money. Thanks again

Power burns are important. I always slightly under wick for this reason and in 6 years no one has complained about how my candles burn. Still Insured but still....
@earthglow8 күн бұрын
Absolutely encourage power burns on the channel and in my own testing, however even with a candle that is able to power burn for more than 4 hours that doesn’t mean that a fire couldn’t occur, say from a fan that instead blows a tissue near the candle flame.

Great topic. If you're vending at festivals, you should make sure your general liability applies to that situation and maybe get commercial property coverage. A jeweler friend brought up festival coverage in her forum and there were several stories about things like booths collapsing wrecking their neighbors inventory.

User needs to be responsible. The candle didn't light itself.

That is the reason why we would not want to live in America, lawsuits and wins on ppl there own faults is crazy, we heard so many crazy lawsuits that blow our minds, like the one with the mother that won against McDonald's while she didn't pay attention and her daughter got "burned"on a chicken nugget, she almost got a million dollars, that case and several more baffeled us. You do everything right and an idiot falling asleep with a candle burning blames you for his stupidity🙄😒
@earthglow9 күн бұрын
Haha, I am not going to disagree with this. I believe in the EU the losing party is responsible for many fees so most only enter a realistic lawsuit they expect to win.

I would add however that if you make your own candle vessels which fail and contribute to a fire your insurance may not cover you. You need to ensure that the containers you manufacture are thoroughly tested and pass all needed safety requirements and are fit for purpose with the relevant documents. You should ask these questions with your insurance company before agreeing.
@earthglow9 күн бұрын
That is a great point and important to do! This was definitely something I took into careful consideration when choosing an insurance company.

In no situation would you be liable for someones negligence. Put your warnings on the candle and move on with your business.
@earthglow9 күн бұрын
I wish that were the case!
@babyg2cc28 күн бұрын
A warning label will not suffice. If you are making/selling candles, please get insurance; otherwise, expect a lawsuit if something goes wrong.

You don’t ever use water. Baking soda or a fire extinguisher that is made for multipurpose.
@earthglow9 күн бұрын
Haha that may be what you’re supposed to do but I was just portraying a realistic example of what someone might have happen and try to do

People panic and water comes to their mind first for a fire. But it is just like a grease fire.
