It would've made more sense for the Oni to have that blinking pattern. Right now, the Oni feels way too similar to a normal ghost unless you're really observant.

@@DizzyHotSauce "really observant" is the thing here. Once you have it in your memory though you'll get it easily. Oni flickering is sort of an inverse to normal ghost flickering. Most ghosts seem like they flicker into view, while this one either flickers rapidly or appears to be mostly visible, instead flickering OUT of view

Good tip I do is take a paramic (tier 3) in first and hid just in door and see if I can get a speed clue and location early and also check camera for bonus orbs :) it’s very unlikely but it’s possible :)

Tier 3 parabolic is your friend on this map (if the ghost isn't right at the front door that is). My winning run was a Yurei and I heard a door slam downstairs on one of the wings. It was a guess at the end of the day but I had it narrowed down to few ghosts anyways.

Agreed. I think it's worth taking in an incence, crucifix and parabolic on your first enter. That way, if the ghost is far away, you can listen to it and test for Banshee and Poltergeist, and maybe even Yurei if you're lucky.

i've done the apocalypse a lot of times and i can confirm what you're saying... Tier 3 parabolic is the reason why the challenge is doable for me. can very easily do it without headgear due to chapels good lighting and Tier 4 candles. But without tier 3 parabolic i wouldn't really try it. Also, i've done 1 apocalypse with a yurei in a similar manner.. i literally heard a door slam almost as soon as i entered the map, the objectives i had were extremely easy so all i was doing is trying to get the photo... one of the easier challenges i've done. Yurei is a fine ghost when it actually does it's ability... it's a shame that yurei's can go like.. 3 hours without using it though.

I never hear footsteps (unless it's close) or most other sounds in the distance you comment about hearing. You obviously hear them, often ask us or assume we hear them. Please and ty. Its so funny you posted this video. Yesterday(12/31/24) I set out to beat this challenge and just before I started I watched your last video on apoc gold. I took your advise from older videos and actually tried each one instead of skipping until I got a perfect round. Fortunately I got a deo on my third go, but I needed a ghost event. 33 minutes and 15 hunts later I got my gold, silver, and bronze trophy. Thanks for all the help and all the enjoyable content!

all your videos on this challenge helped me SO MUCH in achieving this! I got it with The Twins - made sure I listened to like 10 different hunts to hear the difference in speeds. I did reset a few for crappy objectives. Ironically one of those resets (I believe like my 4th attempt) was a Deogen. My heart sank when I thought how easily I could have done it. Overall, it took me like 3 hours and maybe 30-35 games. I only died twice. Good luck to any and all who attempt this challenge - it's no joke, but damn it feels good to have the trophies, badges and all the bragging rights!

I was lucky enough to get a Deogen while attempting this challenge. Unfortunately as I was leaving (with the ghost photo and all the objectives completed), the Deo did a last minute hunt while I was literally at the exit door, leaving me trapped (at that point I had run out of smudge sticks), almost like the situation you were in at 36:16. Except I died trying to move around the ghost. I never thought it was possible to feel that much despair in phas until that point. Easiest game to win and I fucked it, and after hours of grinding lol. I was literally right there!! With that said, I haven’t given up. I fully intend to complete the challenge eventually. Just a matter of time and patience. But that Deo game will leave a scar on my psyche lol.

Some tips for people below level 90 (I did the challenge at like level 70): you can use the tier 2 headcam with these filter settings on nvidia: Press alt+f3 to open the filters menu open the brightness/contrast filter change the exposure to 8, contrast to 8, highlights to 4, shadows to 0, and gamma to 100. This lets you see very well without a flashlight.

If you dont care about honor, just reload the match until you get a Deogen. You can loop it around the table in the managers office. You can quickly tell its a Deo by listening for machine gun like footsteps that are approaching you with the parabolic mic.

13:18 This timer is the GOAT. Every time I play phasmo I set it to multiple hours and then I press the pin button in the corner and the timer stays there the entire time I play. No additional buttons are required, it just exists on your screen.

I’d recommend changing hunt duration to medium, it’s only 50 seconds instead of 60. If you’re cheesing for a deogen (resetting good objectives (Cleanse, Repel, Survive Hunt, Capture Photo, Firelight doable ((train the deo through the chapel and the two doors in the hallway) and resetting if you don’t get a deogen on the first hunt). All you need legitimately is, Smudge (Tier 2 worked since it’s already slow as a Deo and helps with the camera), lighter (I used tier 3), firelight (tier 3 is a must), and a photo camera (tier 3 better obviously). This is all you need to get it done if you have good objectives and reset till you get a Deo. I used the office to the left to train it around the desk (go wide around the wooden chairs) initially as it was off to the side so it was extremely unlikely for another ghost to come and kill you while there (given no radio, no talking, no night vision goggles on). Take the firelight into the office, place it on the desk. Have camera and smudge ready, dea will get to you (even a mimic mimicking a Deo should allow you to get the photo) (second hunt can tell you if it’s is a mimic and not a Deo) all objectives should be done if you get the good ones, I would reset crucifix, emf, event, parabolic mic. You could do a motion sensor as well, just another trip you’d have to do, but if you got a Deo, should be good as long as you smudge it (you don’t want it to hunt on your way to the door as there’s no looping spot) I came up with this strat after getting 3 failed (nearly successful runs over the course of 5 hours) of a demon, revenant, and mimic (died getting a photo each time using a more conventional using 4 firelight, tier 1 smudges, crucifix, etc.) and in frustration went for Deo exclusively. I did get caught on a chair while walking backwards in the office and died to a Deo (would’ve taken two hours if I didn’t die there, became another 3 hours but it was mainly resetting) Reset if it’s in the entryway or office (don’t want it to hunt on you) It’s more mind numbing but you have to buy way less by resetting and not spend 5 minutes setting up just to die. If you are doing noncheese, I’d recommend using para mic to listen to its speed (maybe hear polty throws) and where it is if it’s a ways away. At the end of the day, do whatever works best for you. Timers are extremely good as oh snap it’s hunting every 23 seconds, demon.

Correction: Hantu is closer to Moroi speed on heavy rain + broken breaker. Thaye is above both, not by super much, but noticeably. Also criminally underselling the T3 paramic not only for tracking the ghost and finding it, but for Raiju/Myling tests as well. Lastly, EMF objective is fine if you plan on interacting with the ghost at the end of a hunt as you can have the emf to pick up anything that it interacted with before despawning.

the first time I did I unashamedly got a deogen for an easy win (get a ghost photo, smudge while chasing, and escape a hunt). My most recent one was a thay, which was a nightmare, but I'm so proud of my growth since starting to play the game

I was super lucky with my Apocalypse challenge run, having done it before the broken camera update (hope they fix/find an alternative soon), having the ghost close to the entrance, having the ghost change ghost model (actively knowing it was an Obake), completing the easy objectives, and surviving, it certainly won't be a feat I could replicate. Anyone who can beat the Apocalypse challenge deserves the highest respect, especially now.

I had a rev in the kitchen with EMF and two other easy objectives I dont remember. Got the emf by timing the hunts so I had max time to throw in emf at the kitchen entrance during the grace period (I use LiveSplit for my timer) and got lucky. Sadly I died trying to get the ghost photo but just letting people know kitchen sucks but is not entirely impossible if you got an easy ghost. Especially for rev since you can use the long side hallways for a photo. I just got unlucky and it roamed to me during a hunt. I eventually got it with a Raiju in the left wing. Lined up 4 firelight in the wing hallway for lights (Tier 3 never go out unless ghost does it) and got the photo at the end of the hunt. Two objectives were easy and I don't even remember but I did a raiju test with a motion sensor during hunts and hearing it through the para mic far away. As soon as it changed speed I knew. Then my last objective was blow out a firelight and I had the line of firelights from my photo thing. I went I bed while sitting in the truck. Woke up and still didn't do it so I went inside and camped the entrance since it was far away in the left wing and I probably wouldn't die during hunts. I waited like a half hour before finally it blew one out and I left. Good stuff but my run was technically like 8 hours because I slept for my firelight objective

Funny story, I almost did it first try because I got a lucky ghost event and when I left with everything done, I went Moroi because it had the usual Moroi speed and um.. was a Hantu, never saw it in a hunt so didnt realise, also always was at a constant speed. It took me 6 more hours of tries 😅 PD: In the run where I actually did it, I had the emf objective and I got it during the hunt, at the very end, and I was in the chapel while the ghost room was the kitchen, my guess is that before teleporting to the ghostroom it did an interaction as soon as it ended hunt and counted for emf, was weird.

It was stuck in that very bloody room in the right corridor and was only able to run around in circles while I stood in the corridor taking their picture and so on. i completed my apo challange on 31st of december, my goal was getting it done in 2024. i had luck, in my first game i had the worst objectives but i had a deogen when i left and in my 3rd round i had as objectives 1. take a photo of the ghost 2. repel the ghost and 3. clense the area. and for my luck i had a deogen again so i was gifted the trophy :D overall it took me like 15 minutes to do the challange

I tried for a week straight on this and NEVER got a Deo... It saddens me because I was SO CLOSE to getting it with a Raiju and then as I made it to the door, it hunted. It also changed rooms to the lobby and I had already used all of my salt and smudges.

I decided to try this at level 53 without t3 head gear/crucifix/salt/para mic (don't ask) and it took over 10 hours but I did finally get it on a Rev. 10 hours of attempts and not a single Deo, I genuinely thought they may have disabled Deos for apoc 3 because it made it too easy. I wanted xp and money so if I got unlucky objectives I still took a 1/24 at the ghost instead of immediately resetting. Still no Deo.

Just yesterday my friend attempted this challenge for the very first time and got a Deo WITH the easiest objectives and completed it within a hunt or two with no difficulty, FIRST, TRY. What the fuck
