Just a general comment on the series of videos for this year's GS Trophy... Of course really beautiful shots and scenery, very polished, however the overall production and editing felt rather promotional and distant to me; I had no sense of any competitive or human element to the event. Lots of really stunning drone and landscape shots, but there seemed to be very little emphasis on the challenge events... I would have loved to see how the different competitors and teams tackled these challenges, but instead we mostly got quick cut montages which made it difficult to feel what was actually happening. Would have preferred a bit more continuous focus and a more coherent timeline for each day. Obviously there is always an intention behind the production decisions, and a balance between the different aspects of the event, as well as the time factor when you are producing each day for a live event. In any case, just a note from one viewer as to what would have been more compelling viewing.

This whole event is exactly like the videos. Polished. It takes place without any interactioonwith local media or BMW owners. A bunch of people arrived in my country, digging up wetlands, ploughing across beaches and then buggered off again. There was nothing at all in the media, not even in our bike mags. There was no side show, there was no contact of the local BMW Owners club or BMW Riders. What is the point of this event? I have no idea. The New Zealand BMW owners and also the NZ Dealerships were totally left out of it. You don't even see spectators. Even the start was a private event. Many BMW Owners and myself are disappointed. We were so excited when we heard the Trophy will take place in our country and then .... nothing.

I do have to admit that it is a bit strange that most of the riders have qualified on an R1200GS or 1250, and now the Trophy is run on the 850. A whole different bike that they have to remaster.
