Sure thing Tyler! Thank you as well man, and yeah, the gasket took some time!

Loving the progress. Within the next month or so I think we should see this thing running which I am very excited for
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Mitch. Yeah, we'll be getting there with it. Hopefully beginning of January it'll be firing up for the first time. I'm real excited for it. Thanks for sticking with me through the process!

What's the torque spec on that bracket with the rear main seal

Im doing my auto to manual trans swap right now on my 93 hatch. I had to cut my battery tray out to run the OEM clutch hardline that goes under the battery tray. Yup those 2 bolts were destroyed at the bottom due to my tray not having the plastic acid catch try on top of it.

Sweet build man! Ive been watching every episode and comparing to my own build. I'm in the process of installing a D16Y8 and EX S40 transmission in my 92 DX EG hatch. Keep up the great vids and good luck!
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
Oh that rocks dude! Thank you so much for sticking around. So we’re in the same boat then haha, very cool. How is it going for you, with your install? Ex trans is the way to go with the d series too
@coldfrontbmf6 жыл бұрын
I got the Z6 harness today out of the junkyard, now all I have to do is find the time off of work to put everything together haha. Also attempting something a bit harder, I'm converting mine to power locks, windows and mirrors.
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
Oh sweet! That's convenient, don't have to run the vtec separate then. But cool man, going full power on the interior. It's funny, you are adding that stuff making it nice, I am stripping everything out, making mine less nice lol. All about what we use the car for though right
@coldfrontbmf6 жыл бұрын
I just wanted to attempt something to make mine unique with a few creature comforts. I see it as same passion for cars with slightly different builds haha. Thanks for replying and keep up the great vids! Your vids have helped me with my build.

Thank you. I have found little info on this process. I was expieincing a catch 22 with reguards to dropping the oil pan while my engine is being partialy supported by a jack on the oil pan seeing as the transmission is out.

I'm confused. Before transferring the manifold, your old motor is not a Z6 but it has a Z6 manifold. Your new motor is a Z6 but doesn't have a Z6 manifold. Why? LOL
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
So let me catch you up. Old motor was a b8/b7 hybrid they pieced together and they used the z6 manifold on it. New motor I just bought (the d16z6) did not come with an intake manifold. So am just re-using the manifold I already have.

Oh sweet! Well I certainly appreciate you hangin' out. Just need to install the clutch/flywheel and get the trans prepped then it's all going back in the car. A few videos ago I cleaned up and painted the engine bay, real happy with that one. But happy to have you on board, thank you! -Robbie

Thanks for this video. Btw when you clean the Manifold with Purple Power and hosing it Down. I know this probably a stupid question, But is that safe to hose it down like that? I have a y8 Mani and I would like to Clean it also like the way you do it.

Questions my friend is it fine to run a d15b7 manifold on a d16y7 engine??
@LucasEHonda5 жыл бұрын
Does the Oil Pan have to come off to replace the Rear Main Seal?? Because it looks like you removed the Rear Main Seal without dropping the Oil Pan.

Hey just use a smaller socket and hammer it in to remove the battery tray. That's what I did to remove mine.
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
That would be a good idea, thanks man. It seems the rust or whatever it is has build up and made it so it's not even the shape of a bolt head anymore though. its like the Earth is taking the car back lol. But I'll have a look again, thanks
@krazy_lobito43356 жыл бұрын
Hey on the rear main seals bolts.. you don't torque those bolts down ?? doesn't have a torque specification?
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
It does yeah, they were 10ft lb which is super light. Practically just tighten them down but 10ft lb is it.
@brntoutgarage61646 жыл бұрын
Refine Movement is your car a 93 or 92? Either way 92 civics all came with vtec prewired.. 93 and up had different harnesses.. I have a 93 hatch myself and just converted from auto nonvtec to manual vtec with a z6..and I wired vtec. Straight to the ecu..
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
I have a 92. Yeah I’ve heard it’s pre wired for vtec, but is that the case on the engine harness as well? I was under the impression that the interior loom going into the bay was pre wired. I was thinking I was going to run the vtec wires straight to the ecu like you did.
@brntoutgarage61646 жыл бұрын
Refine Movement I have an auto harness I can cutout the harness connectors connecting engine harness to interior harness that way you don't have to run inside.. that way you just wire it into the back of the connectors make it look clean. running them through the firewall was a pain...

I can’t wait to see this d16z6 run, any plans for the exhaust such as a header?
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
I’m happy you’re looking forward to it man, sure appreciate you hangin around! It’s going to be so cool. So the header that I got with the d16 looks to be some generic 4/2/1 ebayish header. But it looks way better than a stock manifold so I’m going to use that to get it running. From there, I’d like to look into getting some piping created or see what kits are available. Any suggestions?
@zacharysalanga70486 жыл бұрын
You need to get a z6 ECU and Wiring harness because you need a harness that is wired for vtec
@RefineMovement6 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I haven't shown it in the videos yet but I have a z6 ECU and I'm going to wire the vtec straight to it
@kitsherwinrombines80614 жыл бұрын
do you have to remove coolant when you remove the intake?
@RefineMovement4 жыл бұрын
There are some lines that are connected from the intake to the cylinder head so yeah, you will have to remove those. It’s not hard, but yeah, you’ll want to drain the coolant and put new fluid in

I want to swap my y7 manifold to the y8 do i have to change the injectors to
@moxine_4 жыл бұрын
I don't know much about this car but generally you want your air fuel ratio to be even and adding a bigger intake with stock injectors would make the AFR lean. Not that it really matters since the ECM would try to balance it out by increasing the pulsewidth of the injectors but bigger injectors would keep the ECM from having to compensate.
