Wow alot of criticism from a bunch of people who have no clue what they are doing. I gathered all info from this video without any issues, maybe you guys should get your hearing checked. Coming from a guy who works on all his own vehicles in the driveway, ANY information that you don't already have or know is very much appreciated, and in the long run will save you busted knuckles, broken parts and hundreds of dollars. I plan on doing the job this weekend and am confident I will finish in 1 day, only because I watched this video. Thanks a bunch for making this video and saving some of us a bunch of money by avoiding the shop, the rest of you better break out the cash and call your mechanic.

I'm a retired mechanic 65 years old these 4.3 Motors they are good when everything's running correctly but to work on them it is a nightmare unless you are a younger man or woman with good mechanical skills don't even attempt this job it's a real pain

I'm pulling mine out to replace it with a remanufactured crate. Haven't had too many issues yet. Pain is the bellhousing bolts.

My worst problem was that you can only remove the fuel rails with a stubby wrench.

How much should an intake gasket replacement job cost? Mine is leaking and I don't have time to Jack with it . My 2000 s10 is basically junk 165k miles . Goes thru wheel bearings like crazy . Calipers locking up 2/3 x intake gasket leaking . Cv shaft needs replace .

Ok I missed out you took the heater hose on the top side of the intake off.I was told it some sort of quick release type that needs a special tool.

Perhaps a stupid question, but did you have to drain the coolant from the lines going to/from your heater core? Unsure if I need to drain my coolant system before starting this process.

I'm changing the intake gasket on my 2001 GMC Jimmy. The question I have is once I've got the intake off I noticed the ports inside my engine the back two was full of sludge should I be wor ried about that or is that normal

Don’t worry just clean it out, it’s the dexcool sludge, if you already put everything back together great. However if you put dexcool back in it you should drain/flush your coolant system and go back with the yellow coolant. Yellow will mix well with any residual dex but you will never have sludge in your coolant system again.

Have a 2000 s10 V6 . Throws a puff of white smoke at start and oil is very milky but does not heat up at all even when it was ran for just a bit without antifreeze. What could it be?

Hay man I hope you figured out the problem but if you didn't if the oil is milky then there is coolant in your oil and it can get there from a blowing head gasket that blew through on the inside

Got a 4.3 GMC Sonoma which doesn't have whatever that module beside the thermostat is. Also the Connecting rods on a W vin is different from an X vin. GMC made alot of variations of the 4.3l so it's kinda like how a Honda 1.9 F22 isn't the same as a Y7. They will sometimes take other parts or procedures.

I know its much later but rough running, coolant going down for no reason. mine is pumping coolant out of the top of the engine so that's how I knew. 02 s10 4.3
