Intake valve cleaning on Kia Sportage

Doing Intake valve cleaning on my Kia Sportage. Since this engines are GDI or direct injection they can create carbon buildup due to intake port not having a fuel injector to spray in the intake with help clean the valves. By doing this we can help clean the ports and remove carbon. This will help every time you do oil changes for preventative maintenance. If there is extreme carbon buildup, talk to a profesional to see other option in removing the carbon in the intake.

Yes it can slowly help remove carbon build up on intake valves. Good to do every 10,000 miles or so.

Yeah. Ill do it again in 10k. Next time ill do a borescope comparison to see the difference

Yes I used it for years on port injection cars and does clean intake well but wanted to see in GDI. Ill do it again in the 10K oil change

That what i did in the end but you first start slow because it will smoke and knock like hell. After that floor it

How did you inspect the intake valves with the borescope, through the spark plug hole when a valve was open?

Well I was going to do through the spark plug hole with valve open. The intake manifold has butterfly in each runner. I just want to inspect it. Is is still have carbon then I might remove manifold to clean each valve

The metal end of the hose is just sitting inside of the intake hose, there is no valve.
