Intamin Glass Traction Elevator at Kings Island Eiffel Tower in Kings Mills Ohio

Taking a ride to the top of the smaller scale Eiffel Tower located near Cincinnati Ohio in Kings Mills. Installed by a company owned by Intamin in 1972, modernized at some point with a slap on mod. These elevators run on independent service with an operator and have variable speed settings. The exterior shaft is completely exposed and not covered in glass.

There is another elevator that serves the lower platform. That one wasn’t in use as they don’t use that lower platform often.

​@@patricknedz It depends on how the elevators are working and the weather. Today we actually used both platforms at the same time right around closing time to help speed up the line a little and get everyone through faster.

These elevators have to be gear-less traction, interesting they are 2:1 roping unless it was for the added weight of a fully loaded cab. Looking at the hoist ropes running along the shaft, ropes top of cab and counterweight and compensating sheaves is this a basement machine room? Or overhead with the counterweight frame in the corner of the hoist way?

I think, from what I've read, it's got a counterweight frame in the corner. I mean, it could have changed since the 80s, but that's what it seemed when I was reading up on it earlier.

Sorry this is 6 months late, I was here recently and it is an overhead machine. It does use 2:1 roping which should reduce the load of the motor. They hold 35 people.
