I took a tour of her place a couple of years ago. Met Judy and her husband, very nice people. They took the time to show my wife and I around her entire studio.

It is truly amazing how they can have so much imagination and patience to make so many figures and make wonderful paintings. If I could be close to their workshop it would be a great boost to learn this beautiful technique. Thank you for your delivery and congratulations from the island of Tenerife, Spain

Thank You for the great tour. I am a beginner just starting to use the scroll saw.. I enjoy it very much. I have an inexpensive Harbor Freight but for now it serves my purpose. It I really get into all this I would buy an more expensive one. I love watching your videos and your patterns.

Wow, that place is just amazing, so much talent with all that work. I've just bought my 1st scroll saw and to be able to create anything simple would be amazing but I never think I will ever get close to any one of those pieces.

Doesn't she ever sell any of her work? Can't believe how much stock she has on the walls, must be costing a fortune in wood. Surely you'd sell this beautiful stuff.
@stevegood32246 жыл бұрын
The work on the walls are not pieces for sale. This is just for display. She has a very successful school and commissioned work business. She also has a successful business selling intarsia patterns and accessories.
@woody13806 жыл бұрын
Steve Good Thanks. That's an awful lot of work for display, beautiful indeed, she must have a full time polisher and duster :)

Jelo buena noche, mi nombre es Yonaci Díaz, artesano de la República Dominicana, y me gustaría con partir con ustedes esa experiencia muy bella y quiero aprender ese arte.

She is a great artist but one of the flaws I see is the miss-use of time as well as money. With all due respect . choosing a species of wood that accepts stain well can make the artform more affordable especially for the beginner. I use clear pine as my wood and find that the grain is very acceptable for all sorts of uses. Try it and you will see that soft woods work well especially light colored soft woods. I love Judy's work and mean no disrespect but money is a factor. I stain my pieces separately so as not to contaminate those that are adjacent to them
@stevegood32243 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard. I'm sure Judy would not feel disrespected by your comment. She is a lover of art and an incredibly kind person. The art of Intarsia is a very old art form and has always been accomplished using different species of wood and their natural colors and grains. What you are speaking of is just as valid as an art form but is closer to what is known as segmentation. There are advantages to both forms of art. Neither is a misuse of time or money. Judy has pieces of her art sell for tens of thousands of dollars. She has pieces hanging in prominent museums and even in the Hall of Art at NASA. How much time and money would you have to spend to consider that a misuse. From a practical point of view, it would be your technique that was of less value in financial terms. That's not the point. The point is, does the art make you and those who see it inspired in some way.
