I have only been able to afford this type of saw and have been using a magnet to hold the bottom blade holder up for years, I also have the top holder fixed by making a small plate fixed to the main screw on top holder that way for me makes it easier to attach the blade also i use a rubber band stretched over the blower securing knob to the blower pipe then when you loosen it the blower rises up to the top and gives you more room .I also keep a few extra holders so you can have different sizes of blades you might need .

Will this saw cut 3/4 inch pine or is it just for small projects?

It will cut 3/4" pine. You have to slow the cuts down but with a good blade, it will work fine.

Hello Steve, I’ve been watching your videos for years now. I’m in the process of looking into a higher end scroll saw. Would like your Frank opinion on the absolute best scroll saw to purchase today, regardless of price I figure can probably provide that information better than anybody. Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately, this has become one of my regret purchases. You need to lift the retractable arms out to tilt the table onto the wheels (like a trolley)which jam, and are a pain to get into the lock position, then the pins are tricky to unlock again. This means ,if it’s against a wall you have to man handle it out to get enough tilt to move it. I have a dewalt compound mitre saw with a standard 10” blade, and the leveling platforms on either side, won’t go high enough (and are crude and fiddly) to accommodate the height of the saw bed. I know I could put a board on the platform to give me more height, but I feel the whole thing is made cheap to sell cheap. I wonder what you think of it 1 year on?

To be honest I don't use it very often. I have the flip side setup as a workbench and most of the time it is covered with tools and wood. I have probably flipped it 10 times since this review. With that limited use, I have not experienced any big issues. Keep in mind that I am primarily a scroll saw user and a chop saw is not a tool I need very often. My opinion of the unit has not changed much since the review but that has very limited meaning because of limited usage. I appreciate your input. That is what is good about us all doing reviews.

Thank you. You have been very helpful. I have to start at the beginning before moving to the next level. 1 Do what you have done. 2 Get both wheels turning. 3 Get the wheels to change direction and get it mounted on a wall. That's a big enough list and possibly a few months of trial and error. Cheers mate. Have a great day.

Wen is made in China. If you buy it, part of the price is going to support the hyper-aggressive Chinese military (and Russia). So take that into account.

I understand your point. Unfortunately, if you do not buy Chinese products you limit yourself greatly. They are easily our largest importer at over 40 percent. Estimates say that 70 to 80% of products sold in Walmart are Chinese-made. I would be greatly surprised if everyone in America had not bought a Chinese product in the last week.

Hi Steve. I'm Jim from Wisconsin. You Attached the scrollnado to a Wen 21" scroll saw. Could you show how the memory tube is attached to the under side of the table and how the dust separater is attached? Thank you.

If I could be close to their workshop it would be a great boost to learn this beautiful technique. Thank you for your delivery and congratulations from the island of Tenerife, Spain

Steve ....would adding a Pegas chuck upgrade to this saw be worth it.....or not? thanks!
@stevegood3224
@stevegood3224 3 ай бұрын
I would only add the Pegas clamp if the original clamp was worn out. The Paegas clamps are nice but I don't consider them a significant enough upgrade to replace working parts. The WEN clamps work fine.

This 16” Wen scroll saw is a generic chinese scroll saw . Many of exactly the same scroll saws are assembled and sold all over the world under a different name /brand , different colours and different extras , type of motors etc. The castings are all the same ! Even the Excalibur is being made under different names and in different countries . Buyer beware. Otherwise informative tips.

For those who are looking for a quiet vacuum another way to make one quiet is to place it somewhere else. You could leave it running and use PVC for the lengthy run. Or run a low voltage wire with the PVC and wire it to a relay. They also have wireless controllers for Large Dust Collectors that would work. The basic idea is to move it far enough from you that it isn't annoying anymore.

You think WEN would have given some instructions (other than a one page sheet that is useless) for the alt pin holder. Like the saw but the instructions overall were horrible.

Hi So sorry for off topic comment. The WEN scroll saw you reviewed was purchased by me and others but major flaw been discovered. The knob to tighten the table is the wosrt desighn ever , started noticing my table was lose very often. Wiggle your table and itll loosen, the knob has a nut inside plastic tighttening knob its a tiny knurled nut in handle, its in plastic and the washer it tightens down on is in a plastic cup too plastic is the worst thing to use on a table clamp desighn bc it is so slippery , and the actual nut in the handle wll never be able to get any clamping purchase due to its size, please unscrew you handle and look at the desighn and wiggle your table and you see your table will be off plane, and if its not alotta peoples are that use the saw often. A large diameter machine nut is needed and heavy washer not the tiny nut in plastic. Please accept my apologies for hi jacking this post I really tried contacting you privately but my skills are not good there. Im guessing by the way you know machinery that youll see this is seriously wrong and even if it did work its wrong. I have an machine shoo knowledge from working at my dads shop and other shils for many years. Great Saw other than this major flaw. Thank you sir for addressing this issue on the WEN saw.

Boght this been so happy till i realized my cuts are Fd up!! The table cannot be tightend!! The tightnner is a series of plastic pieces and metal washers and the squeeze point on the tightning knob flexis the washers and thighten for a minute only the losens! This is not on mine only!! Im gonna call WEN this is a really super poor desighn for any tightning knob ,im amazed. Ill add pics if i can.
