I wish there was some explanation of what is happening here :( I’ve watched this video five times and can’t figure it out

The video is ment as a complement to my patterns that uses this technique, that is why there is no explanation here. But there are lots of other more explanatory videos with intarsia in the round if you wish to only learn the technique :)
