Hey! What does the r(t) represent here? Is that the position vector of a varying point or the tangent vector (not unit tangent vector)? I am confused.

@marisataddei12479 жыл бұрын
You should do a similar problem (but much harder) but with the vector being r(t)=. I'm convinced this problem is unsolvable. The derivatives get much harder to find when your looking for N. Help! I would love you if you could explain this to me! Taking Calc 3 online with a non-existent teacher...not fun!

Cool, I was doing for homework today, but I waited until the end to factor out the 3 to cancel it. For this problem, we could not find "t" unless a point was given or a second equation, right?

I have a doubt.. In physics when we refer to unit tangent vector we take the derivative of the position vector and divide it by it's magnitude .. If velocity is tangent vector then, Is acceleration the normal vector? This is a question I have...Kindly Help Ma'am .
@Ken-no5ip2 жыл бұрын
Acceleration is the tangent vector of the velocity function.

this method of finding N is just universal in textbooks, but it's a horrendous approach unless r(t) is very docile indeed. conceptually purer and technically simpler is to find B by normalizing r'xr'', and then N is BxT. even the ad-lib of finding the component of r'' that is orthogonal to r' works better than the approach given here.
