-What I miss the most in Onenote is the a line beneath your note, Evernote did it better. -And terribly annoying is the sometimes 'invisible' vertical A4 line, where you can't type through. -It's irritating when I paste a link, I can't always remove the hyperlink. I've been working with Onenote for several years. Some issues we encountered: -Search index corruption. -Trying to find things you're sure are there but can't seem to locate. -It's not always possible to export your Onenote as a backup. Sometimes, you get the most beautiful error messages.

MS is deliberately refusing to improve ON, fearing it will steal the focus from Word as the leading Office app. I've no better explanation.

I really like the enthusiasm with which you made the video. Nice pace, without blah blah parts. I already had OneNote and had been using it for a while and was curious to see if I could discover something new. I actually came to your KZbin via a detour to discover whether OneNote could also be optimized with VBA. Unfortunately not, but maybe I can continue with the hints I have collected. Please continue making videos like this, a well-deserved compliment! (and I will follow you ;-) of course)

Nice OneNote video, Jonathan, it was educational, even though I use OneNote daily for many years. I hope the future of OneNote is still bright; I was a bit concerned about 4 years ago when Microsoft removed the application and recommended to use the Windows 10 App instead.

How does using Onenote look after say a year or two? Is it an unwieldy notebook with hundreds of pages? or do you archive some pages to slim it down? Thanks
@gitarmac5 ай бұрын
I've been using it for over 10 years. I had one notebook for work related things and one for personal things. It's never gotten unwieldy but it could if you don't organize it properly. You can archive things or close a notebook if you wish, it disappears from you can open it again. The first way I used it was to store bills I've paid, or other things I want to save. If you choose to print something, instead of selecting a printer, you can "print to onenote" which will shoot that thing into a page of your choosing. For instance, I have a section called "medical" and pages for doctor visits. When I go to the patient portal to pay a bill, I "print to onenote" and put it there. You'll want to make sure the title of your page is descriptive enough to find and organize. I do all my bills like this now. It's handy because if you need to follow up you can go to that page and document that. For instance, I had a water leak, it was repaired. They emailed me my receipt which I stored on my water bill page. I spoke to the city to have my bill adjusted, and all the the information is in one note. I haven't seen mentioned yet but when you make a page, you can make a sub page by kind of tabbing it over . I have a water bill page, but each month is under that only indented. Anyway, this method of saving when I pay something was invaluable during a marital dispute with a spouse claiming they paid things which I actually paid. I also save any hard copies of bills but it's much easier to organize them in one note, and you can even document where you have saved the hard copy. You can do snips and screenshots of things as well. I just ordered coffee from sweet Maria's, that's in one note under products purchased. I have a page for each vendor I do business with, like the olive oil I get. If you are unable to print your receipt from the vendors screen, make a snip and put that in one note. After using it for awhile I realized everything was all in the same few pages, but it was simple to reorganize. I now batch my utilities by year, then after it's over I move them to an archived notebook and make a new one. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this very well but I don't know many people that use one note. I know a lot of people that SHOULD use one note, or whatever else is out there. I'm a Microsoft office 365 user so that's what I do

Thank you for this video. I've been an Evernote user since the very beginning but with the recent price hikes and no real updates in the notetaking functionality, I'm on the hunt for alternatives. I have a general dislike for all things Microsoft based on user experience but your video made me genuinely curious about what OneNote has to offer.

Hi Jonathan. Brilliant video. I've been eyeing One Note because I already have MS 365 and I take a lot of notes. I've used several note taking apps in the past. Most of my notes are text and images. One thing I always do is that no matter the notes app I use, I always convert the key notes to PDFs and save them in an archive on cloud storage. I'm struggling to do this with One Note because: 1. The infinite Canvas doesn't make for well straightened visually appealing notes 2. Converting One Note notes to PDF with images tends to process with issues. Images are usually broken where one page goes into the next. Sometimes a text line is actually divided between one page and the next. This doesn't happen with any other apps If I can deal with this, I'm One Note 100%. How has your experience with this been and how can I resolve it? Thanks a lot

Is our digital brain app Onenote or Loop? Please help! The lines are blurred between Onenote, Loop, and Whiteboard.
@bearded365guy Жыл бұрын
That’s an interesting question. Lots of people expected Loop to take over, but I think there is still a place for OneNote
@jacoblouwsma3667 Жыл бұрын
Loop is way too early but has potential. I was a heavy Notion user prior to coming to MS365 for work. I like MS365 a lot so far, and I liked Notion a lot too. Loop was often compared to Notion when it came out but it is so so far behind Notion it's no comparison at all. Hopefully Loop continues to be developed!

I have three big issues with onenote. I use it on a mac. 1 - It does not support a tree structure of page hierarchy. Just Notebook, Section, Page, details. This is a serious limitation. 2 - I cannot create a local copy of my onenote notebook. 3 - People I share it with cannot create a local copy of a shared notebook. Now I am looking for a wiki type solution. Any suggestions? Thanks!

It was a nice video, my main problem with the Microsoft 365 suite, including one note is the lack of functions on mobile devices. In android apps I can somewhat understand it, but I really don't understand it in browsers on tablets especially.

The word "deep" is subjective. That means that it is relative to the observer. For many who are not familiar with the One Note application, this video is a "deep dive." Neither view is right or wrong, which makes it "subjective."
