This will probably fall on def ears, I’m 5 years late to the party, but I mow 2x a week and 3 inches with my perennial rye in Hillsboro at the beginning of spring and fall. As we move from spring to summer I gradually increase the mowing height to 5 inches (I supplement the yard with humid acid, sea kelp, and root growth stimulator during this process to get a very slow grass growth while encouraging the roots to dive deep, and at the same time reducing my watering frequency). I keep it at 5 inches throughout the summer, then mow 3x a week as we enter our peak growing season in the fall while bringing leg down the grass height to 3 inches and stimulating the grass with root growth stimulator and air8. I’ll also throw down some regular fert and weed barriers a couple times per year. These basic steps give me a lush green grass practically all year long. You don’t have to be weird like me, just learn to enjoy the weekday mows and your grass will look better than your neighbors!

I have a mower that does not have mulching blades. I usually let the wind rows dry for a day or 2 till brown . then mow them over to spred more evenly over the turf for mulching effect.. any other thoughts?.. I am also going to raise from 2 inch to 3 this season. its a acre of grass so usually not done every week..
