I never heard of this person until now. Saw a documentary on CBC and saw a woman full of enthusiasm and joy. She lost her life too young and her children without a mother. She had so much to offer the world and her country of birth. It's Canada's and Somalias' loss.

I met Hodan in Nairobi, she was so energetic. One thing she told me that I will never forget is Never give up because of the hate of your enemies she said Nin iskadhig and today to continue her legacy I will go to Somalia and continue what she used to do because it was you who inspired me to take my journalism career. Hodan joined other African heroes like nelson Mandela who fought for a better life for Somalis and Africa as a whole, she dedicated her life knowing fully well how dangerous her mission was, i as an African mourn her death but also question why peace in Somali is not forth coming, too many lives have been lost and as a honor to Hodan lets pray for ever lasting peace in this very beautiful part of Africa. Last time and only time I talked to her on the phone. She said be strong Hooyo your kids need you abaayo. I was going threw dark time Alxamdullah I am ok now, then she asked me, “do you want tell your story on my snap” I told her I am too shy ☺️and she said be strong Xamdi.
