Thank you soooooooo much. I was so confused at first. I kept trying but it wasn't working. I took a deep breath, uninstalled The Sims and reinstalled. Once I did this and followed the steps they worked the first time. Anyone who plays Sims knows the impact it has on us. I needed this. EA couldn't even help ... May you continue to be blessed. Just confirming this method is what ended up working for me in 2024. Sims 4 is fine but Sims 3 is just pure perfection, and I'm glad I didn't have to settle!

How did you get this to work because I’ve done the steps and I load up my game and I go to open a world and it still says serious error has occurred. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it is not working. The game launch is fine but it won’t let me load the world to play in.

Idk what were Intel thinking with adding efficiency cores to their x86 architecture - considering older software built on 32 bit interfaces relying on classical x86 SoCs - you have no way to run those anymore without turning off e cores either through this patch, or by going into the BIOS. It’s not like devs are going to officially patch the game or any older software… and Intel really jumped the gun. My next build is going to be AM5

Ive been trying to get my sims 3 and medieval games to work for a long time. I downloaded the patch and reinstalled the sims medival but when it says that it was executed the game still wouldnt launch when I tried to play it via the launcher and when I tried again it said that the patch fail to execute because it was being used by another process. I have the games as CD but the files I need to execute wont come up as .exe. Should I redownload the patch and the sims to see if that might work? Are my games just not able to play at all? My processer is a Intel 12th Gen. Thanks to anyone who can help me!

I have a Ryzen 7 but im having the same issue loading up my sims 3 game. What can I do? It used to work on my laptop but then just stopped.

Hi Kylah, so if it used to work on your laptop, it must be something else causing the problem. This issue relates to hardware, so it's usually only when users get a new computer and try to load TS3 for the first time, and it just doesn't ever work. Something very similar to this problem does occur when TS4 package files are placed in the TS3 Mods > Packages folder. TS3 can't read them, so it causes an instant crash. Did you recently install new mods? The Sims 3 Dashboard Tool on ModTheSims was recently updated in the last year or so and can scan for TS4 packages in your Mods folder to help you find it, if this is the case.

I couldn’t find mine but realized I was in the wrong area You need to be in ‘This Pc’ > ‘Program files’ On the mod the sims it says it should be in the x86 or whatever but I didn’t find it there, mine was in normal program files You can use origin if you are using it to see where it has placed all the important files of you click Manage > View Properties > Browse And it will give you the folder path to follow

Look at the Icon. I suggest that you go to explorer options --> view --> disable "Not show common file endings" (or something like this). Then ".exe" etc. is shown

The patching works on 13th generation processors. Has anyone tested it on those processors? I have a laptop with an i9 13980HX, and I'm experiencing issues with the game not running. I would appreciate your help in advance.

hey you mentioned you have an amd ryzen 7, does this processor just run it without issues?

Yep! I am using a PC I built in early 2020. Main specs: AMD Ryzen 7 2700x processor and the stock cooler fan, as well as an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 TI GB GPU, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz These specs are pretty overpowered for TS3, but I built it with that in mind. TS3 is the main game I play, but I enjoy some other newer games that benefit from the higher specs, and I do custom content creation for TS3, so running software like Blender, GIMP, Photoshop, TSRW, Sims 4 Studio, and Milkshape, I have absolutely no concerns. It's also a great workstation for WFH. My CPU and GPU temps never get hot, even when under load playing TS3 (heavily modded, with ReShade) and I can't complain about it! This has been my first PC with AMD Ryzen, and I don't know if I'll ever go back to Intel CPUs if someday down the line I upgrade/replace. TS3 has its own issues with lag and stuttering that will just never go away due to routing, but by all other measures it runs absolutely fine! That being said, I have not been keeping up to date on the newer Ryzen CPUs as of late, so if they update their architecture at some point, it's possible that this could start to happen with these, if it has not already...

I seem to be having the same issue where I don't have a .exe file, I have the game through Steam and the only thing I have is the literal Sims 3 icon, I tried searching for it in my PC but it's not there.

I had the same issue, I found the EXE file under “This pc < Windows(c:) < Program Files < EA Games < Sims 3 < Game < Bin” The exe file is either TS3W or TS3 depending on your version of the game.

Hi! So it seems ModTheSims has been undergoing some backend updates in the last day or so, so the site has been acting strange occasionally. While I was not able to access the site earlier today either, I was able to see the download button for the Alder Lake Patch just now. Make sure to click the Downloads tab right under LazyDuchess's name, and scroll to the bottom of the page where you see the Files section and the AlderLakePatch zip file. Hope this helps!

*NEED HELP* my bin folder doesn't have TS3.exe. It only has TS3 and a TS3W but even my Alder lake patch exe is all messed up. It only comes up as a word document so when I double click it nothing happens.

Unfortunately for some weird reason my game didn't get on x86 file. Instead it's on the other file. So nothing works for my game. I wasted my money on getting my gaming pc and now I'm just sad.

Hmm...do you also have a high-end dedicated graphics card? You will want to limit your framerate, this is a given no matter what, so I'd start there. You can do this with the Smooth Patch, also by Lazy Duchess, or by using the NVIDIA Control Panel to enable v-sync. If the framerate goes out of control, it causes some visual lag as the framerate goes from 500 to 40 to 300 to 20 and so on...resulting in choppy visuals and an overworked GPU. Beyond that, most lag in TS3 is due to poor routing and comes down to the way worlds are designed and how sims navigate (or more commonly, epically fail to navigate) the world. Playing in smaller worlds and/or worlds with well-done routing helps overall, and using the NRaas tools designed to aid in managing your world on the backend so things don't get out of control (Overwatch, ErrorTrap, GoHere, Register, and Traffic, primarily).

I think I made a mistake. I thought I had an intel 12 but I must've misread bc this patch broke my game even more. before it was breaking right after the intro movie and now it crashes immediately. So the first thing I would recommend doing is seeing if you still have the patch files somewhere on your PC, wherever you unzipped them, and delete them. The patch instructions say that when the executable is patched, a backup of the executable is created, in case you didn't end up needing it after all and need to revert back to the old one to prevent you from needing to re-install your game, though it sounds like you may have done this? I realize this is a very old comment - life is very busy and I'm not great at replying, so sorry haha
