@@SweBeach2023 > This, however, you can still make games perform well without game engine level opimisations for the specific brand of card... Else how can NVidia GameWorks titles work just fine on AMD Radeon and Intel's DG-1 / HD iGP series? Game developers will always tend to favor the cards that have the greatest market share unless they enter a partnership with a competing vendor. that's a given, since they're always targeting performance for the people most likely to buy their games. If AMD had a 75% market share, most game companies would target AMD architectures, just like most game companies currently target NVidia due to their high market share against AMD and Intel. That doesn't mean, however, that you can't enter a partnership with a GPU vendor... Whenever you see an AMD Radeon splash screen or NVidia's famous "The way it's meant to be played" logo when launching a game, that's because that game company partnered with either AMD or NVidia (or maybe intel in the future), to optimise the game to work best on that specific architecture.

"Because for a while that was the rumor, that Intel would scrap their discrete GPU production." that was FUD for certain. Intel has way too much money in and they always new it would take a few generations to get up to form, also the countless billions to be made in datacentre with these chips. Unless their board goes full retard, which to be honest isnt fully unprecedented; I expect their dGPUs to stay.

On its Readme, DXVK is mentioned so that's probably the reason. Using the A770 LE 16GB and I found that the performance for Shadow of the Tomb Raider in DX 12 didn’t change (the changes were for DX 11 mode which I did not check for), but I did find that COD MW II was incrementally better and more consistent. Tested with a Ryzen 9 5900X with ReBAR on of course and I use the card at 1440p whenever possible. I’ve yet to test more games that use the older APIs to see if there really was a difference, but I’ll be interested to see if my huge framerate swings in GTA V go away, cause I had problems with the game dipping hard into the low 40s and high 30s online, so I hope that’s been resolved!

Not every DX9 game received such a massive improvement as CS: GO* though, Payday 2 for example, which is also a DX9 title, got just 4% (at 1440p). But then again, you're at around 160fps, so it's not important with the A770 & 750. Also, I have a feeling the titles mentioned by Intel were specifically optimized instead of DX9 in general (as they're popular), but maybe not. I am positive there is more to come, but if it was a no-go before because of DX9, I'm surprised you now bought one - was it primarily because of CS: GO? :D But have fun with it, I'd also like to play around, but don't really have the time currently. * Intel tested a 79% improvement (avg) actually (still massive), dunno if this channel does proper benchmarks or if it was just two gameplays. But different map might also influence gains.

Hi, I have the a770 16gb paired with a 12400. After the update and benchmarking right now... A bit less stutter all across the board. GTA 4: oh my!!! Feels way better Shadow of the tomb raider: from 15370 frames rendered to 15398. Hitman II: feels better and better minimum frame rates. Beaming: still unplayable maybe even worse. GTA V: feels better Loving the experience

Same. AMD is a great choice, but I want raytracing performance. From what we've seen, Intel has that down🤙🏿, more than AMD . I'm replacing a 1060 3gb too so no matter what I know I'm gonna see an improvement in my pc.

I can't believe Intel went back and actually wrote new native drivers for a lot of dx9 games, the popular ones like CS:GO and League of Legends. I really did not expect them to go that extra mile but it does show they are serious. Earned a purchase from me yesterday.

They didn't. They are just using DXVK.

@@Gatorade69 They said in the new video on the Intel Graphics that they went back and wrote native support for certain games while others would still use a translation layer. If that means it's all DXVK based, great but I think there's some of their own work involved for some games like CS:GO.

It will seldom surprise me if there are continuous improvements with ARC's overall performance over time as Intel gets to grips with its own architecture and optimises the drivers... They're at a pretty big disadvantage considering that the last card intel released to consumers was the i752, they haven't had an architecture to base their cards off of, they haven't got previous software, drivers, nor almost 30 years of experience in developing graphics for gaming. Arc is very much a textbook first-gen graphics product.

Noticed in GTA V and RDR2 GPU usage rarely exceeds 70-80% but maybe thats just a bug in the metrics overlay. RDR2 is running in Vulkan so its strange not to see 99-100% GPU usage there. Drivers are getting better but they still need time to mature it seems.

Maybe by the time their next cards launch (assuming they do at all), the drivers will be so good it might actually be a good choice to get an Intel card. Although I doubt they will be competing in the high-end.

You never ever want to benchmark CS:GO by playing bots. There is the FPS Benchmark map by ulletical on the Steam workshop. It's reliable and tests many different scenarios of graphics card/CPU use. The reason you don't wanna benchmark using bots? Your computer is hosting the server and processing the bot AI as well. So basically, the more bots the less fps. Sure, you can make the argument that if I always spawn the same amount of bots, it will always produce a different result. Then you could try to compare those numbers. But realistically, who is looking up a CS:GO benchmark to play against bots? Besides, CS is mostly CPU intensive so whenever you do a bot benchmark you're just putting unnecessary load on the CPU, which can produce innacurate results. Unless, of course, you're benchmarking a CPU. No hate but this is something you should consider adapting for your videos.

As the Arc gpu's often performed much better at 1440p compared to 1080p I wonder if testing at 1440p with resolution scaling to give an internal 1080p would give different results to native 1080p ?

I really want some competition in the graphics card market. I hope Intel ARC can make Nvidia and AMD sweat. Does the amount of system memory affect the card? I seem to remember hearing something about using system memory. The other thing is, the insane prices of the cards will go down.

If the thing, system memory, you are talking about is RAM then no, GPUs doesn't use RAM (except Integrated GPU's which use RAM for VRAM)

I’m looking to buy an arc a 770 for a new PC bill as a first timer. Are used to build back in early 2000s do you have to change the drivers or API depending on what game you play or when you update it is it good until the next update?
