They are running a business. At least they don't release redundant, pointless products like Intel used to do (for more money I might add). Looking at you Kaby lake.
@Jimster4812 жыл бұрын
AMD isn't "being greedy" they have a finite number of CPU's and quite a bit of debt pay off and shareholders to appease. Intel has like 5x the mfg capacity (of just CPU's) vs AMD's entire wafer allocation @ TSMC.... The reason all their cheaper stuff is still on Zen1 and Zen+ because its made at GloFlo and AMD can still compete on price there. The Zen2 and Zen3 stuff all uses the same wafers which are already in short supply.... AMD has massive orders from big HPC and datacenter customers and cannot afford to allocate wafers to build budget CPU's which turn $0 in profit at the cost of high re-design and re-tooling costs. Budget CPU's only can break even with massive volume that AMD cannot do. The more you understand the semiconductor industry the more you understand that AMD is a victim of its own success. Not that they have gotten greedy.

Intel is A LOT harder to cool while AMD is fine with the stock cooler. Putting both under a powerful AIO gives Intel the advantage. BTW AMD can be overclocked full stop, Intel demands expensive motherboard. Not really an even use case scenario, AMD has the advantage of giving a lot more at that price point but it gets overlooked once you add expensive cooling and such, which doesn't belong in a budget build. Also, 5600x is also 200 now, those were inflated prices...

Should I go for the 12400 instead of the 12400f just to be on the safer side in a scenario where the dedicated GPU just goes dead..? Would there be any difference in performance? And speaking of which, how likely are GPUs to malfunction? Do different brands of GPUs offer different durability ? Can I just go for cheaper brands like INNO3D or Galax instead of spending more on MSI or Asus for RTX 3060.
@FerricWolf2 жыл бұрын
No idea if you already pulled the trigger, but the 12400f 100%, save yourself some money. GPUs really don't go wrong enough for you to overspend on a failsafe like that. The way gpu pricing works is that the cheap brands will take the basic spec from nvidia and just slap a cooler on it, whereas the main brands actually design a custom board that will generally perform much better and potentially be much cooler/quieter. It's up to you if the price difference is worth it though ofc :)
