I have the k version of the 4690 overcklocked to 4.6GHz and paired with a rx480 nitro+ 8gb (weaker than a 1070) i experience stutters in ac:origins, rottr, sottr and exactly like in this video i get stutter almost always when the cpu hits 100%. 4c/4t even overclocked to 5GHz can't render newer games smooth, but for 4-5 years it was the best gaming cpu i ever had.
@AdverseGecko33 жыл бұрын
I wish I'd the K version to at least reduce the stutter a little bit, but if you experience that with a RX480... I would have had also stutter on most recent games. But for a CPU that cost me 200€ 5 years ago, it did an awesome job.

@@AdverseGecko3 vsync is a good way to reduce stutters. Your gpu will be under utlized but you will get smoother frametimes, your cpu will not be forced to push as high fps it can on permanent 100% load. Depending on your monitors refresh rate it will be e.g. 60Hz/30Hz (in my case)

So im 20min in and can say 1.)the i5 4690 for games is still great if matched with a good gpu sadly tho you will have to hold out with stutters from time to time 2.)the R5 3600 is only the way to go if your planning on rendering etc. In the future 3.)my person i5 4690 boosts higher then the one in the video for some reason meaning i might get a slightly smoother experience and 4690K users with an overclock might too. 4.)for anybody wanting a upgrade hunt around for an i7 4790K and you will already boost performance by as much as 20% everywhere and more so overclocked and on certain boards with overclocked Ram example 1833mhz DDR3 other then this maybe hold out for two years and save up then build a new setup with whatever mid to premium CPU is out.

@AdverseGecko3 Жыл бұрын
TL;DR: No, get an Intel i5-11400f. Long answer: Right now (at least here in Spain where I live) there is no point on getting a Ryzen 5 3600, because it is still listed for ~180€, and currently there are better and newer options. Right now, if you want to go 100% on AMD I would choose the Ryzen 5 5600 (~160€), but there are better Intel options. If you want the best CPU quality/price/performance ratio, I reccommend the Intel i5-11400f (~120€). Or if you want a little plus of performance, the i5-12400f (~170€), but I think it's not worth the extra 50€.

I liked the video because It's basically comparing the first iteration of my PC vs current. But I had to dislike because you're running graphics benchmark, and running games on high settings. It's good to show that the 4690 can still be used nowadays but it's decieving because the GPU is causing a massive bottleneck on the results
@AdverseGecko3 Жыл бұрын
But I'm not LinusTechTips, I don't have access to a 4090 or a 6950XT. At that time I had a 1070 (now a 1080), I upgraded my CPU, Mobo and RAM, and I wanted to see the difference with the settings I usually play those games. Also, you have Cinebench and 3DMark (on this benchmark you have the regular benchmark AND the CPU stress benchmark). I know there are others like Geekbench, the CPU-Z test, etc. Or I could have even tried tried a video rendering test, but that was not my main focus of the video, the focus was gaming. And there is actually 4 games with low settings: CSGO (with a 4:3 stretched resolution), CoD Warzone, Fortnite and R6 Siege. FPS games are the only games I play with low settings. The rest I usually play them with highest graphics as I don't want more FPS, but a higher quality.

Yeah, it was quite strange. Battlefield V, Fortnite and both Tomb Raider were the only games I couldn't play properly, but Fortnite was the only one with that horrible stutter. Also was the only one with an always 100% CPU Usage and low GPU Usage. I'm pretty sure that this poor GPU usage made the CPU push even more and made that instability (even the mouse movement was quite choppy). With a lower spec GPU like a 1060 or 1050Ti could have been better.

@AdverseGecko34 жыл бұрын
Espero haberte ayudado! =D
