Man, I’ve been looking for this video for a loooooong time. I’m in the EXACT same situation as you were, down to the same usb hub haha. Thank you for the straightforward and informative video!

The M3 max have a massive difference in GPU. For me the M3 Max is the best product. M1s might be replaced in to or three years as Apple AI needs more neural engines.

Great video. I'm in a similar situation with a late 2019 MBP 16 thinking about upcoming M4 models. I think results will be similar or a little better. Also, it is nice to see another developer test 😃 Honestly, it can serve me well longer, but fan noise drives me crazy, and it is kinda unusable for connecting to another monitor. The real excuse I am telling myself (so I can splurge lol) is because I got a battery service recommendation.

Intel MacBook 100Hz gets very hot when connected to external display, fan goes crazy
@TheStigsCuzАй бұрын
Hey man, nice video! About the fan noise, I had the same issue with my 2017 MacBook Pro 15" i7. I had to change out the battery not long ago and since I had to basically tear down the entire computer to do so, I also added new thermo paste on the CPU and GPU chips. Made a huge difference. Give that a try.

Great video! I just ordered the 16 m3 max in space black. It's my first mac. Plan on doing a lot of video editing taking youtube seriously.

You will be pleased. But you need to get familiar with the macOS way of things. My take. Look for "Finder Tags", Touch pad gestures and Mission Control, and virtual desktops will also help you. Also, Please forget "cut and paste" a file. Finder will not let you by design. On the up side. You often can delete a file you have opened in some other window.

I know its a unfair fight older intel vs m3 but ya its way better on even the m1.

How well Does it hold, if compared to a macbook air 8gb the bae model, i have been looking between these two options in the second hand market, and these are quite similarly priced, i use my 2012 upgraded ssd and ram to 16gb not so frequently but occasional use for editing videos mostly in 1080p and sometimes iphone 12 4k 60fps videos under a minute, serves me well, only while exporting the fans kick in, when i came across my friends 2019 16 inches i9, i got mesmerized by the screen size the speaker quality and the humongous track pad, didn’t get to extensively use the 16 inches but the time had kinda fell in love especially with the modern design, m1 are fast and battery back up is amazing for sure, but the the 13 inch screen is kind of asking me to stop and rethink my decision especially with only 256 gb storage, in the second hand market i am getting a minimum of 1 tb with 32gb ram and 4gb radeon graphics, as per my workflow, do you think it is worth it to sacrifice these perks for a machine that is sure future proof but to what extent, i do have to sacrifice a beautiful 16 inches 1tb storage and the amazing speaker, i do not care much of the new os or the perks that come with it, my workflow with the laptop is not that much, half of the time its just sitting on my table idle, which would you recommend for my purpose.
@gg_sheedАй бұрын
Yea what’s your workflow exactly? Because if it is rather light, like just web browsing and editing documents then the MacBook Air is definitely worth it. Also if you like portability then the air is def the best option. But if you do any video editing or coding or something a little heavier then I def wouldn’t recommend the air

I am awaiting my refurbed 14" MacBook pro m3 16gb 512. It will replace my 2015 i7 Macbook Pro (16gb/512)...I'm excited about battery life mostly buy speed as well. my Intel i7 has served me well (through 2 batteries) but its time to move into 2024!

If you use native macos apps then yeah new m3 max is amazing, if you use anything else then its complete crap, better to buy 2015 i9 with 5600m macbook at least it can run essentially all apps & even triple A games at 60fps via bootcamp, thats the biggest problem with macs, for productivity they are insanely good, or and for media consumption they longer reign supreme anymore given the ultra chips are pushing out the same on-screen time at higher brightness than macs these days, and if intel & amd chips become even better in terms of effiency i think mac will die out, especially given the price differences, (all this without knowing how good the new snapdragon or other arm chip laptops will be) which will no doubt stretch apple wide open even further.
@gg_sheed5 ай бұрын
I see your point, but overtime more and more developers will build Mac native apps. Especially the ones that are important for work/productivity. But yea i do wish that gaming on Macs was better but that’s the dream one day 😅

This is probably a really dumb question? But will I see a major difference in editing going from an 2018 I5 intel to a 2023 M3 pro? I learning how to do VFX and blender. but my intel isn't capable to motion VFX software.
@gg_sheed2 ай бұрын
Yes you will see a huuuuuge difference. Like night and day lol. I bet even with your current workload your Intel Mac heats up quickly and has fans spinning loudly. With the m3 pro not only will you be capable of doing motion vfx. It’ll most likely run without breaking a sweat, unless you’re doing something very very intense
@gg_sheed2 ай бұрын
So the main difference you’ll notice is speed, capability and efficiency

My guy if you have the option to return that thing you should. M1, M2, and M3 apple devices have a design flaw which make them useless for encryption. With the insane amount of viruses on macos i wouldn't risk it, one webkit attack and it's all over for you.
@robgoffroad5 ай бұрын
Umm.... Macs are virtually virus-free. I think you have them confused with Windows.
@gg_sheed5 ай бұрын
Never heard about this encryption issue before but I looked it up and it seems to only be a rather specific hardware exploit. Meaning people should only be worried if they are being targeted by the government or your computer gets stolen perhaps. Which isn’t my case. As far as viruses I’ve never had a virus on my Mac in the 10+ years since I’ve had one. But windows on the other hand….ive had a few viruses in the past.
