The best use for the 'Cheapest' processor version is to use to check that a motherboard isn't short circuiting processors. Second is to update BIOS's to then be able to use a better processor.

Nice! I just recently took a Celeron 440 for a spin with Windows 10 just to see how bad it could be. Also overclocked it to 4 GHz, but it was still unbearably slow 😂 I remember software compatbility with Windows XP x64 was a nightmare - it was actually based on Windows Server and many XP apps and games did not run at all :( You may have more luck next time if you use the 32 bit XP ✌️✌️
@Mini-z1994 Жыл бұрын
You might be able too do the bsel tape mod too overclock the cpu, basically cover a pad that says the cpu runs at its 800 fsb speed & instead have it run at 1066 mhz which should give you a 2.1 ghz overclock at least.

I have one of these that came in an old dell optiplex 360 that I got from my dad's work. It had been faithfully running some basic software in windows xp until about 2014 when it apparently started acting up and had been sat on a shelf. I got it in 2017 and turned out that there was some software issue tied to the specific user that caused XP to freeze, with a fresh user account the PC ran fine. I had some fun overclocking the little "beast" as far as I could (almost 3Ghz) using a program called setFSB. Now that machine is running as a server with a slightly more capable Pentium e5300 and 4GB of RAM instead of the original 1GB.

There are dual core Celerons, distinguishing factor seems to be half the cache of the equivalent Pentium
@ammadigaming3640 Жыл бұрын
Good thing intel discontinued the celeron because 2 core is way too low for today's generation since you need a 4-6 core minimum for a smooth experience in games

It was kinda alright back in the day. Okay for Windows XP. It beats Intel's Pentium 4 Extreme Edition from 3 years earlier. The thing is, in 2007-2008 software was already becoming much heavier, and ran a ton of background processes... and if you wanna do that AND run a game on a single core, you're not going to have a good time.

Jaiden a quick question, can a monitor hold back performance?
@mr.dingleberry4882 Жыл бұрын
Monitor only displays previously rendered frames, which is done by the GPU. Those frames can be rendered at a higher or lower resolution, which affects FPS. For example, if you had a 1440p monitor and you wanted to play at its native resolution, you would get lower FPS than you would if you played on a 1080p monitor on its native resolution. However that does not mean you cannot play at 1080p on a 1440p monitor, you can, its just that the resolution wont be native to the monitor and the picture quality will probably suffer.
