Yup, Intel really falls behind AMD since Ryzen 2000 series, even today, 14th gen CPU basically "13th gen + new sticker"

This would be a great system for a Linux workstation build, though I would ditch the Nvidia GPU for an AMD Radeon Pro W7900 for better driver compatibility thanks to the open source nature of the drivers for AMD.

CUDA man. CUDA is everything! The amount of cuda-based libraries is a whole universe while AMD doesn't give a fk about software. Also W7900 don't have tensor cores while 4090 have 512. Outside AI and AI based image processing, tensor cores are very useful in some scientific computations because it can do 4x4 matrix multiplication and addition as one operation (HMMA and DMMA cuda instructions).

I still can't believe Asus didn't integrate Thunderbolt 4 on its W790 boards, or at least add the header for their add-in TB4 card.

Excellent build..but when ur building high end desktop workstation system instead of using regular aircooler u could use AIO Liquid Cooler and also about GPU instead of using RTX 4090 desktop gaming GPU u can use new Quadro RTX 8000 workstation GPU..I think that nicely suits when it's a Xeon Workstation system 👍

Thanks. NOCTUA NH-U14S DX-4677 is better than most of AIO coolers. Also, unfortunately, there is not much choice in the LGA 4677 socket. You can also check the themps at benchmark test result screenshots. RTX 4090 is costomer choice.

In this use case the air cooler is better because it has more surface area on the IHS for dissipating the heat. Now if there was a water block out their that fits this CPU then that would out perform this air cooler. But from what I've seen there is no AIO that would properly fit this massive socket.@@alderlake12th
