Thanks for this. Feeling it so hard. Ahmed, Cooper, Perry, Taylor, all super important to me. I can’t help but always shout out Gloria Anzaldúa, Cherrie Moraga, Audre Lorde, Barbara Christian, Chandra Mohanty as some of my intellectual and spiritual foremothers. In my field of literacy, Gholdy Muhammad, Marcelle Haddix, Yolanda Sealey Ruiz, Detra Price Dennis and Valerie Kinloch are heroes. And I won’t use ur govt name, but Scholar Noire has changed my life.

I went to Rutgers for undergrad and took Hip Hop Feminisms with Dr. Brittney Cooper. LIFE CHANGING! She's really shaped my scholarly life.

I agree with Sara Ahmed. Everything written by her resonates with me, specially when she writes about feminist killjoys i feel she is describing how people see many women, as an inconvenience just for not shutting up. Melanie Yergeau has an auto-ethnography about autism spectrum and theory of mind which is amazing. Adriana Guzmán and Alicia del Águila have explored body studies, from anthropology and history, and their works have given me a lot to reflect about.

Great video, thank you! I need to revisit Perry's book. In the same vein, I recommend Simone Browne's Dark Matters: On the Surveillance of Blackness. Also huge thank you to Christina Sharpe for In the Wake which I really think is mandatory reading for Black Studies
