Jesus christ man, you have explained this better than anyone else online ever has. Its been a nightmare trying to find any info on UK patenting. Youre a legend.

I was looking around for a simple summary/overview of UK IP law and this is absoulty brilliant. Clear and straight to the point. Great stuff - you should be proud that your content is still helping students years after it was released!

I found IP law really interesting so it didnt feel very hard. It can be very tough but I would say that if you do the reading and then try to think of it less like a subject and more like something really practical you'll enjoy it much more and you'll then find it more interesting.. I could think of tougher subjects though (like equity and trusts and international trade law). IP law is very fact dependent and usually requires you to do a bit more reading. Which uni are u doing it in?
@Reviewsforyoutoo11 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! Yes, depending on the country you're in software may be protected by patents. This is actually being lobbied for on EU level at the moment + you can see how the exceptions in Patent Law are being narrowed so certain software falls within protection of Patents in the UK as well.. You're absolutely right about the grace period. In the EU we do have a grace period for designs, however. Thanks for your comments!

Very nice simple video, thank you for making these :) I think one can never educate themselves enough and watching videos like this is a very painless way of doing that. I watched it during dinner, because I have an essay to write on IP and need a general idea what it is all about. :) So again, thanks ;)

The problem of the Internet has affected most areas of the law and IP is no stranger to the difficulties that the Internet poses. However, the law does not seem to want to differ between different types of technologies. As we say, the law is "technology neutral". It will always be a step behind. But then again, 'freely' isn't something everyone would agree with. Thanks for watching :)
@Rado73512 жыл бұрын
Great video mate! As a law student who adores IP law, I must say that your video is quite nice. Just a tiny remark, concerning software there is a little controversy. In the United States the software code is protected under Patent law, while in Europe is under Copyrights law. About the disclosure in patent law, there is a grace period of 1 year in the United States, while in Europe there is no such thing :) Otherwise- Great Job!

a) what kind of art? b) what do you mean by "from life"? c) How does the work concern the subject in your problem question? Are they part of your work? if so, how? d) Copyright law doesn't concern itself with disclosure (like patents). It protects original works against copying.

Thank you for your video that is very clear In french IP law, the know-how is not considered as an IP right. Indeed, the know know is only protected by the confidentiality. If it is communicated to a third person that is not subject to a confidentiality of obligation, the know-how fails in the public domain I am surprised that know-how is protected by US/UK IP law. Is it possible to brought an infringement action related to the know how in UK/US ? (not possible in France)

This is great. I understand that you intended to draw a few parallels here between the UK/EU and US and that your expertise is primarily UK/EU, but I would really like to see a video from you like this for US IP law. If that's asking too much, could you direct me to someone who can do (or has done) something similar to what you've done here? In any case thanks a lot, this was very helpful.

The biggest mistake is that intellectual property law protects companies from other companies not from the end user to do with the product, that they purchased, what ever they want to do with said product. If I purchased a product such as a phone or computer, I as the end user and purchaser have the right to change and alter the software to suit me as I see fit. If I bought a house, car, a piece of paper or a apple I have the right to cut out, change or alter the bad in the product to make a better product that suits me. If a company hinders you from using a product if you disagree with a tampering agreement of the software that is a crime of coercion. Nobody owns a recipe therefore a recipe can not be copyrighted yet a publishing company will violate that and claim that you need their permission to copy or print a recipe that they published. If nobody owns a recipe than you don't need somebody's permission.
