If you want to express "しる(to know)," "知る" is more major. The Kanji "識" is basically used only in idioms.

As a Vietnamese, I think I could learn Japanese easily because Vietnamese and Japanese do share some similarities.. Mostly pronunciation of some words.. (on' yomi): 知 (ち) sounds like "trí" in "trí tuệ"/"tri thức", meaning "knowledge".. or 電 (でん) sounds like điện, meaning "electricity".. and 大 (だい) sounds like "đại", meaning "big". Wouldn't this make Japanese easier though? Well, I don't really know.. Also, thank you for the video!
